Complete Episode Guide: There's No Place Like Home Part 2 Guide

There's No Place Like Home Part 2 Theories

  • Hurley seems to see and be able to talk to people who have died (Charlie and Eko at least). I think that when Hurley was seeing his imaginary friend Dave when he was in the institution the first time, he was actually seeing a dead person. Libby told Desmond that her husband, Dave, had died. I think the Dave at the institute and the Dave on the island was Libby's late husband.

  • I think by staying with the bomb, Michael feels like he'd redeemed himself. Christian was there confirm that he had.

  • The same noise and light was seen when Desmond turned the key as when Ben turned the winch. Desmond may have moved the island, although Ben said that whoever moves the island could never come back.

  • Perhaps the Dharma people had trained polar bears to move the winch so that none of their people would be forced to leave the island. That would explain why a polar bear was in Tunisia (the same place Ben went to after turning the winch). Though I'm not sure how a polar bear would get down to that room. (Thanks to John for the idea posted in the comments.)

  • Regula makes a fabulous point in the comments. He says, "My theory is that the island didn't move at all but is in fact in the same location and just appearing to be gone. This is what Dr. Halliwax was explaining in the Dharma video that Locke watched:

'In our first demonstration we will attempt to shift the test subject 100 milliseconds ahead in four dimensional space. For a brief moment, the animal will seem to disappear, but in reality-'

He says for a brief moment the animal will seem to disappear, but in reality... I think he was going to say but in reality it is still here.

Observations from There's No Place Like Home Part 2

  • There is a drawing of an island and a boat in the mental institution when Walt visits Hurley.

  • Before Sayid shoots the man outside the mental institution, he asks for the time and the man doesn't quite get 8:15 out before he is killed.

  • Sun is still wearing her wedding ring when she talks to Charles Widmore.

  • Jack tells Desmond, "See you in another life." Desmond had said the same thing to Jack when they'd first met in the stadium and then again when they met on the island and Desmond was running away from the hatch.

  • Sun blames her father and Jack for Jin's death.
