Complete Episode Guide: Expose Guide

Expose Theories

  • Ben usually seems to know things. He may have known that Paulo was in the bathroom. He may have left the walkie-talkie on purpose.

  • I think that when Nikki let the spider out, the other spiders smelled the pheromones and came out. She was bitten by one and then she ran away, but Paulo could have been bitten by more. This might be why she woke up before he did.

  • We've seen other instances when people seemed dead. Could a bite from the same kind of spider have caused this?
    • Some people theorize that Christian Shephard may be the "him" or Jacob, the man in control. Jack saw Christian in the morgue, apparently dead (Ep: 1x5, White Rabbit), but then didn't find the body when he found the casket on the island. Could Christian have woken up or become unparalyzed?
    • Eko went to visit Charlotte Malkin, who's mother claimed she rose from the dead (Ep: 2x10, The 23rd Psalm). Charlotte seemed to come to life on the autopsy table. Perhaps she was bitten by the spider as well.

Observations from Expose

  • In this episode, the writers made several references to the Lost fan community. The community has been unhappy with Nikki and Paulo because they seemed to have come out of nowhere. Many people hope they will die and leave the show.
    • When talking to the director of Expose, Nikki says, "I'm just a guest star and we all know what happens to guest stars." This is a reference to the fact that the character of Nikki is a guest on Lost.
    • When Hurley says that Nikki is dead, Sawyer says, "Who the hell is Nikki?" He said the same thing in a previous episode, echoing what fans are thinking.
    • Speaking of his new chef, Paulo, Howie says, "Apparently, back home he's the Wolfgang Puck of Brazil." The actor who plays Paulo, Rodrigo Santoro, is known in real life as "The Tom Cruise of Brazil".
    • Paulo suggests that the thing in the jungle is dinosaur. Talk show host Regis Philbin, and others, have been saying it's a dinosaur.
    • Hurley tells Sawyer to show some respect and call Nikki and Paulo by their names. Because of the dislike of Nikki and Paulo, many fans have been calling them by other names.

  • When Ben is in The Pearl, he is in his shabby clothes costume.

  • Paulo doesn't want Nikki to go to the Pearl Station and find the diamonds.

  • The real life of Nikki (stealing diamonds) is the opposite of what her character (Corvette) played on Expose, with the same kind of 80s style crime plot.

  • In episode 3x13, The Man From Tallahassee, Locke appears to have been watching Nikki's show, Expose. We didn't see the screen, but heard someone address Crystal and say something about The Cobra. (Lost Easter Eggs)
