What is 'The Lost Experience'?

By , About.com Guide

Question: What is 'The Lost Experience'?
For months, Lost producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse hinted that something big was coming. Toward the end of April, 2006, ABC announced The Lost Experience. The Lost Experience ran during the season 2 airings of Lost and through the summer following season 2.
Answer: The Lost Experience is an alternate reality game (ARG) that parallels the storyline of the show.

Purpose: For fans to unlock secrets about the island.

Scope: This is an international game that stretches across five continents.

Procedure: Fans look for clues during Lost episodes and commercials and basically everywhere, then put the clues together to unlock secrets.

Sharing: Different clues are released to different parts of the world, so fans must work together to solve the mysteries.

Level of Lost Knowledge Needed: Minimal. You don't need to be a hard-core fan to enjoy the game, and you don't even have to have seen all the episodes. The US and Canada have had more episodes than the rest of the world.

Where to Find Clues: Clues can be anywhere and on any medium. See The Lost Experience files for clues.

Where to Discuss Clues: Clues can be discussed in About Lost's Lost Experience Forum.
