Jack and Kate find the pilot in the jungle, still strapped into his seat in the front of the plane. The pilot says that no one knows where to look for them, because they were 1000 miles off course and had lost radio communication. The pilot sticks his head out of the window to see what the loud noise is and is killed by the monster. - Episode 1x24, Exodus Part 2
In a flashback, the pilot is seen at the airport.
Frank Lapidus sees film of the wreckage on the news. He calls the authorities to say that the corpse they are showing is not that of the pilot of 815, Seth Norris, because Seth married his high school sweetheart and always wore a wedding ring. Frank says he knows so much about Seth because Frank was supposed to be the pilot of that flight.
