Jin's father had told him that his mother died when he was very young.After Sun and Jin were married, Sun was blackmailed by a woman who said that it would bring shame to Mr. Paik's family if people knew that his daughter married the son of a fisherman and a prostitute. The woman asks for money in exchange for keeping quiet.
Sun gives her the money and figures out that she is Jin's biological mother, and that Jin's father may not be his biological father.
