Watching news coverage of Flight 815 being found at the bottom of the ocean, Frank realizes that the corpse they are claiming to be the pilot, Seth Norris, isn't because it doesn't have a wedding ring. He calls the Oceanic hotline, but they don't seem to want to listen to him. They ask how he knows so much about Seth Norris, and Frank says because he was supposed to pilot that plane on that day.

Frank takes a helicopter to the island with Charlotte, Daniel, and Miles inside, but has them jump when they hit an electrical storm. Frank is able to safely land the helicopter. His phone is broken so he shoots a flare. Jack and Miles find him.
Juliet tends to Frank's head wound and Frank asks her name. He doesn't recognize her name from the manifest and tells Miles that she's a native. Miles then asks her where Ben is.

Frank confirms for Jack the Red Sox won the world series. He also tells Jack not to worry when Daniel begins his experiment.Frank leaves with Desmond, Sayid, and Naomi in the helicopter.

Frank uses a cheat sheet that Daniel drew him to fly the helicopter to the freighter. He keeps the helicopter heading at 305 degrees, despite having to go right into a thunderhead.On the freighter, he helps Sayid to get the phone to Desmond so that Desmond can talk to Daniel and Daniel can help him.

Frank gives Desmond and Sayid canned lima beans and tells them there is a problem with the kitchen. Sayid says he still wants to talk to the captain and Frank says, "No you don't."Later, Sayid notices that the helicopter is gone and Ray says that Frank went on an errand.

Michael remembers Frank and Naomi arguing about who was going to go to the island first. Frank walked over to Michael and told him that the wreckage of 815 was fake and he was on the freighter because the man who owns it, Charles Widmore, believed him.

After getting a first aid kit, Frank runs toward Keamy and his men. He runs into Miles, Sawyer, and Claire and tells them to hide because Keamy is coming.While they hide, he tries to redirect Keamy and eventually succeeds, even though Keamy pauses and looks around after Aaron makes a noise.

Frank flies Keamy and his men back to the freighter. He talks to Michael, saying Michael should have told him he was a survivor of 815. Michael tells him not to fly Keamy back to the island because he will kill everyone on the island.

Jack and Sawyer find Frank handcuffed to the helicopter seat.
Frank sees Keamy getting some contraption strapped to his arm.
Frank refuses to fly Keamy to the island and Keamy threatens to kill him. Frank says he is the only pilot Keamy has. Keamy slits the doctor's throat and tells Frank he will kill someone every 30 seconds until Keamy flies them to the island.
The captain comes over and Keamy shoots him. Frank agrees to fly Keamy's men to the island. He secretly puts a sat phone in a bag and as they fly over the beach group, Frank drops the bag to them.

Frank says that he dropped the phone on them so they would find him and he could fly them out of there. He says that Keamy and his men are headed to a greenhouse and they need to get off the island right away.
- Episode 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2
As Frank tries to get himself loose from the handcuffs connecting him to the helicopter, Keamy and his men bring in Ben. Keamy asks who gave Frank the toolbox, then Kate runs out of the jungle saying that she is being chased by Ben's men.
As gunfire breaks out, Frank hunkers down in the helicopter. He yells, "Grenade," and Keamy kicks a grenade away from them.
Sayid and Keamy fight and Richard shoots Keamy.
Sawyer and Jack come and Sawyer gets Frank loose with a hacksaw. Frank flies Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Jack, and Hurley off the island, but before they reach the freighter, Frank sees that they are losing fuel.
Sayid sees that a bullet had pierced the fuel tank. Frank tells them to throw out everything that is not bolted down, but isn't sure they are going to make it even with less weight. Sawyer jumps out.
They make it to the freighter, but Desmond says there is a bomb and they need to leave the freighter. Frank and Desmond patch the holes in the chopper with tape and Sayid puts gas in the tank. They quickly leave, not waiting for Jin as Sun screams. The freighter blows and Sun wants to get lower to look for Jin, but Frank says they don't have enough fuel.
Frank flies them toward the island, but after a bright light and loud noise, the island disappears. They run out of fuel and Frank crashes the helicopter into the ocean. They all make it into the life raft.
That night, Frank spots a boat and yells for it to get them. Before they board, Jack tells them that they have to lie about what happened since the crash. A week later, the Oceanic Six prepare to take a life boat to Membata. Frank and Jack say goodbye.
On Penny's boat, Jack tells Frank he's sorry to drag him into all this, but is he okay with their lie? Frank says that whatever they decide, he'll just roll with it.
On the Ajira Airways flight, Jack and the others listen as the pilot comes on the loudspeaker and introduces himself as Frank J. Lapidus. Jack goes to talk to him and when Frank realizes that the Oceanic 6 are on the plane he says, "We're not going to Guam, are we."
Ilana tells Locke that the pilot and some woman left in one of the three outriggers that they'd found on the island. Caesar tells Locke that the pilot took the passenger list with him.
When the plane loses power, Frank is able to land it on the Hydra Station island. He tells everyone that they lost radio contact and to just hunker down and wait for help. He sees Sun leave the beach and follows her, where he finds her talking to Ben. She wants to take an outrigger to the main island, but Frank tells her not trust Ben. Sun knocks Ben out by hitting him with an oar and she and Frank go to the main island and find where the Dharma recruits had previously been processed. Christian Shephard is there and shows them a picture of Kate, Hurley, and Jack as new Dharma recruits in 1977. Portrayed by: Jeff Fahey
