Jack picks up David late from school and David barely talks to him. At home, Jack tries to talk to David, but David just walks away. Jack says he's trying to have a conversation and David says they only have to see each like once a month so they just need to get through it. Jack leaves to go to his mother's house and when he gets home David is gone. He leaves messages on David's phone, then goes to David's mother house to see if he is there.David is not at the house, but Jack sees piano music. He also sees pictures of he and David taped to the mirror. Jack listens to the phone messages and figures out that David is at a conservatory. Jack goes there and listens in awe as David plays the piano.
After his audition, Jack tells David that he sounded perfect. David says he didn't want to tell Jack because he didn't want Jack to see him fail. Jack feels really bad and says that David could never fail in his eyes.

Jack and David go to a lawyer's office. Jack gets a call from David's mom and says he'll have him home around five. David gives Jack an urgent look and Jack changes the time to seven, which makes David happy.They go into the conference room, where the lawyer introduces them to Claire Littleton. Claire says that Jack's father was her father too, and Jack is stunned. Jack gets a call to go to the hospital and as he and David walk down the hospital hallway, David asks if Jack had any idea that he had a sister and Jack says no.
David waits while Jack performs surgery.

In the flash-sideways, David says he made breakfast (which was opening up a box of cereal). David makes sure that Jack is going to his concert that night and Jack says he is. David says his mother is going to be there and asks Jack not to act weird. - Episode 6x17, The End
David goes to the benefit concert with Juliet and Claire, but Juliet gets called to the hospital. During the concert Claire has a pain, but tells him she just needs a drink of water and walks out.
