In a flashback, Claire remembers fighting with her mother while Claire drives. They are in an accident, which puts Carole into a coma. Claire meets Christian when he comes to visit Carole and Claire wants to know why he's paying the medical bills. He tells Claire that he's her father. Carole's sister, Lindsey, kicks Christian out.Later, Christian goes to Claire and tells her to let her mother die. Claire says she doesn't know his name and she wants to keep it that way.
Throughout her pregnancy, Claire visits her mother, who is still in a coma.

Carole talks to Jack after Christian's funeral. She tells him that Christian was there to see her when he died in Australia. Then she says that she was in the hospital still and she didn't see him, but that he was there to see their daughter. Jack says he didn't have a daughter and she says that he did and she was on the plane with Jack. She says she was one of the ones who died when the plane hit the water and her name was Claire.Carole looks at Aaron and tells Kate that she has a beautiful son.

To find out who his client is, Kate and Jack follow the lawyer who is trying to get blood samples from Kate and Aaron. He goes to a hotel room and meets with Carole Littleton. After he leaves, Jack goes to talk to Carole and finds out that she knows nothing about Aaron and is in town to collect her settlement from Oceanic. - Episode 5x11, Whatever Happened, Happened
In flashbacks, Kate goes to see Carole and tells her that Aaron is her grandson. She says that Claire is still alive and she is going back to the island to get her. She told Aaron that he'll be staying with his grandmother and that Kate will be back soon.
