  Kate surprises Tom when he finds her in his car. He agrees to help her see her mother, who is in the hospital. As they wait at Tom's house, they go out into a field and dig up a time capsule that they had put together as kids.

  Inside the capsule is a baseball bat, a toy airplane, and a cassette tape, among other things.

  Tom and Kate listen to the tape of themselves as kids. Tom had wanted to grow up and marry Kate and have a bunch of kids. Kate had wanted to run away as soon as she got her license.

  They go to see Kate's mother, but when Diane yells for help, the authorities are alerted and Kate must make a run for it. She takes Tom's car and asks him to get out, but he won't.

  Kate drives through a barricade as an officer shoots. She is stopped by another car and sees that Tom is dead. Kate looks in the backseat at the time capsule contents, but doesn't have time to grab it and runs away.
