In Miles' flashbacks, Lara gets an apartment for herself and Miles when he is a boy. Miles wanders off and finds a dead guy in an apartment. Lara is shocked when Miles says that the dead guy is talking.When Miles is in his teens, he goes to visit her. She is very sick. He asks her why he can do what he can do, but she doesn't tell him. He wants to know where his father is buried and she says somewhere he can never go.
