Gabriela brings her father in and acts as a translator. Dr. Christian Shepard, Jack's father, and Jack look over the x-rays. Christian tells them that there is nothing that can be done. The father, Angelo, has Gabriela translate that he didn't come there to see Christian, he came to see Jack. Jack agrees to try and save him.Jack admits Angelo and does tests for weeks. He and Gabriela become close. Christian warns Jack that there is a line and he shouldn't cross it. On the day of surgery, Angelo is on the table for seven hours, but his heart gives out and he dies. Jack kicks a locker in the locker room and Christian explains that it was no one's fault. Jack says he must tell Gabriela, but Christian says he already told her and that she is gone.
Jack goes to his car and Gabriela is waiting for him. She kisses him and he kisses her back, then pulls away and leaves.
