- Episode 1x19, Deus Ex Machina
Locke's biological mother, Emily, finds him and tells him he has no father, but Locke hires an investigator to find out about his mother and father. He then visits his father, Anthony Cooper, and the two become close. When Locke learns that his father needs a kidney, he is quick to offer his. Once Anthony receives Locke's kidney, he wants nothing more to do with Locke.

Locke goes to a therapy meeting and shares that his father stole his kidney. Locke spends a lot of time outside his father's house. One day, Anthony gets into Locke's car and tells him to stop. Locke wants to know why Anthony stole his kidney instead of just asking for it. Anthony tells Locke that he's not the first person to get conned.
- Episode 2x17, Lockdown
Locke finds out that his father is dead and goes to his funeral. He later learns that his father faked his own death in order to leave, but he needs Locke to get his money for him. Locke agrees, but when his girlfriend finds out, she leaves him. - Episode 3x13, The Man From Tallahassee
Locke finds out that his father, going by a different name, is about to marry a Mrs. Talbot. Worried about his mother, Peter Talbot seeks out Locke to ask why he donated a kidney. Locke lies and says he never knew Anthony, but then seeks out Anthony and tells him to call off the wedding or Locke will tell the bride-to-be.Later, Locke learns that Peter Talbot is dead and he confronts his father. Anthony pushes Locke out the window of an eight story building. Locke survives, but is paralyzed from the waist down. Anthony skips out and the detectives can't find him.
On the island, Ben reveals to Locke that they have Anthony tied and gagged in a small room.
- Episode 3x19, The Brig
The Others move to a tent camp and tie Anthony to a giant pole. They want Locke to kill Anthony, but Anthony says he won't do it because he's spineless and he just wants his daddy.Locke locks Anthony in the Black Rock and gets Sawyer. He locks Sawyer inside with Anthony. After Anthony says that Locke is still mad because Anthony stole his kidney, Sawyer figures out that Anthony might be the original Sawyer and asks his name.
Anthony goes through many names, including Tom Sawyer. Sawyer gives him the letter that he had written as a kid to the man who conned his parents. Anthony says that he remembers Sawyer's mother and that she begged him to take her away from her sorry little life.
Sawyer tells him to continue reading the letter and Anthony tears it up. Sawyer chokes him to death.
