Sawyer is very sick from his bullet wound infection and Kate helps Jack take care of him. Kate gets Sawyer to take his medication while Jack looks on.Episode 2x9, What Kate Did
Kate believes that Wayne is being channeled through Sawyer. He asks why she killed him and she says that she couldn't stand to be part of him because that meant she would never be good.Kate and Jack kiss in the jungle, but Kate pulls away and is upset that she let herself kiss him. She looks disgusted with herself.

Jack tells Kate she can't go on the hunt for Michael and that she has to take care of the button in the hatch. Kate gets Hurley to take care of the hatch and follows the men. She is captured, and Jack must give up his weapon and turn back in order to save Kate. He is even more angry with her than he was before.Episode 2x13, The Long Con
Kate realizes that she had played right into Sawyer's hand and that she had helped him pit Jack and Locke against each other so that he could gain control of the guns.Episode 2x15, Maternity Leave
Kate goes with Claire and Rousseau and they find a new hatch. Kate finds raggedy clothing and theatrical glue and a fake beard.Episode 2x16, The Whole Truth
Kate sits with Sun while they wait for Sun's pregnancy test. Sun asks if Kate ever took one before and Kate says yes.Episode 2x17, Lockdown
Kate is impressed with how well Jack can play poker. Later she catches up with him to say that she's glad he beat Sawyer. They see a flashing light and follow it to find a parachute with a pallet full of Dharma food.Episode 2x17, Lockdown
Sawyer loses a game of cards to Jack and ends up having to give him all the medicine back.Episode 2x18, Dave
Hurley attacks Sawyer, much to the delight of those nearby, because Sawyer called him crazy.Episode 2x19, S.O.S.
Jack invites Kate to go with him to try and trade non-Henry for Walt. As they walk through the jungle Kate sees a doll, and when she picks it up, they both get caught in a net. Kate tries to shoot the rope, but misses. Jack is successful in shooting the rope and getting them down.Kate tells Jack of the medical hatch she and Claire had found.
As Jack and Kate sit and wait for the Others, Kate says she's sorry she kissed him. Jack says, "I'm not." They look as if they might kiss again, but they hear something in the jungle. Someone falls at their feet. It's Michael.

Kate wants to know how Ana-Lucia was able to get Sawyer's gun without Sawyer knowing, but Sawyer dodges the question. They get the heroin from the stash under Sawyer's shelter and then Kate tells Hurley what happened to Libby.Episode 2x22, Three Minutes
Kate agrees to go with the small party to get Walt the next day.She and Hurley dig two graves and she stops an argument between Michael and Hurley.
Episode 2x23, Live Together, Die Alone
Kate goes with Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, and Michael to the Others' camp to get Walt back. On the way, she realizes they are being followed and shoots at the two men. One of them dies.They continue on and Kate finds a bunch of tubes with journals inside. Then they are hit with darts and taken to a pier by the Others. Kate says she knows that Mr. Friendly has a fake beard, so he takes it off.
Hurley is set free. Michael and Walt are allowed to leave in the motorboat.
