Episode 2x1, Man of Science, Man of Faith
Once they get the hatch open, Jack is disappointed to see that it's just a big hole and they can't possibly get everyone down there to hide them from the Others. He decides to go back and have everyone stay at the caves.When Kate follows Locke to the hatch, Jack decides to go too, but he arrives to find no one there, so he climbs down. Jack finds a large room filled with outdated computers and other equipment. A man has a gun to Locke's head and Jack recognizes him as someone he met several years earlier, running in a stadium.
Episode 2x3, Orientation
Jack watches the Orientation film with Locke and thinks that pushing the button every 108 minutes is an experiment and that nothing is going to happen if they don't do it. When Desmond runs off, Jack runs after him, and after recognizing him, Desmond asks what happened to the woman Jack was trying to save. Jack says it doesn't matter, but finally admits that they were married, but aren't anymore.Episode 2x4, Everybody Hates Hugo
Jack and Sayid tunnel under the hatch to find that the entire place is surrounded by concrete.Episode 2x8, Collision
Jack takes care of a very sick Sawyer when Eko brings him to the hatch. Jack wants Eko to take him to the jungle where Shannon was shot, but Eko won't. He finally agrees to take only Jack and with no guns.Episode 2x9, What Kate Did
Jack is upset seeing Kate care for Sawyer so tenderly. Jack is upset when Sawyer, completely out of it, tells Jack that he is in love with Kate.Jack and Kate share a kiss in the jungle, but Kate looks upset and runs away.
Episode 2x11, The Hunting Party
Jack is mad at Kate over the kiss and doesn't let her come along on the hunt for Michael. Jack refuses to go back after Mr. Friendly tells them to, until Mr. Friendly reveals that he has Kate and puts a gun to her neck. The men drop their weapons and leave. Jack is even more upset with Kate than before. He asks Ana-Lucia how long it would take to put together an army.Episode 2x13, The Long Con
Jack is upset that Locke hid the guns, but it turns out Sawyer was conning them both and now Sawyer has control of all the guns.Episode 2x14, One of Them
Jack helps the man that Sayid brings into the hatch, and then tries to get into the armory when Sayid is torturing the man. Jack holds Locke up against the wall as the timer counts down. He lets Locke go to the computer only after Locke opens the armory door.Episode 2x16, The Whole Truth
Jack steps out of the shower to find Locke in the bathroom. Locke says the steam opens up his pores for shaving. Jack is upset because Locke reveals that he asked Ana-Lucia to interrogate Henry and she is in there right now.Jack listens outside the armory door, but it's quiet. He's worried that Henry might have snapped her neck. Soon, Ana-Lucia comes out and says that Henry didn't give her anything different than what he had already said to them.
Later, to get to Locke, Jack lets Henry out of the armory for breakfast. Locke is surprised. Henry mentions that this must be a reward for him giving Ana-Lucia the map to his balloon. Jack is surprised and asks Locke if he knew about the map, but realizes that Locke didn't know about it either. Henry says they have trust issues and if he was an Other he would have drawn a map to a secluded place where his people could capture Ana-Lucia and trade her for him. Jack looks worried.
Episode 2x17, Lockdown
Jack looks for Ana-Lucia, and finds out she had left the day before. He sees Hurley, Kate, and Sawyer playing cards and tells Hurley that Sawyer has him beat, even though he's seen none of the cards. He knows exactly what both of them have. Kate asks him what she has and he says he doesn't know because she is just playing for the fun of it.Sawyer challenges Jack to a game and Jack beats Sawyer, Hurley, and Kate. Sawyer wants to continue. Jack wants to play for all the medicine that Sawyer stole and Sawyer agrees. Jack wins the medicine back. Sawyer wants to know why Jack didn't want to play for the guns and Jack says that when he wants the guns, he'll get the guns.
On his way back to the hatch, Kate catches up with him and asks if she can go so she can take a shower. Jack lies that the shower is broken. They see a blinking light and go to investigate. They find a parachute with a pallet full of food.
