Locke explains the history of backgammon to Walt and then asks him if he wants to know a secret.

Episode 1x4, Walkabout

We see Locke right after the crash, studying his foot, then later learn that he was in a wheelchair prior to the crash.

Episode 1x5, White Rabbit

He goes to search for water and saves Jack from falling off a cliff. Locke tells Jack to consider that maybe his hallucinations were not really hallucinations.

Episode 1x6, House of the Rising Sun

Locke helps Charlie to give up his heroin.

Episode 1x7, The Moth

Locke tests Charlie who is going through withdrawals.

Episode 1x9, Solitary

Walt asks Locke to teach him how to throw knives and Locke agrees, even though Michael had asked Locke to stay away from Walt.

Episode 1x11, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues

Locke reveals to Boone that he worked at a box factory.

While tracking Claire, Locke and Boone find something metal in the ground.

Episode 1x13, Hearts and Minds

Locke hits Boone with the butt of his knife when Boone says he is going to tell Shannon about the hatch. Locke ties Boone to a tree and puts a paste on his wound, then leaves him there with a knife just out of reach, saying he'll get loose when he's properly motivated.

Episode 1x14, Special

Locke tells Walt to respect his father's wishes and stay away from him. Locke helps Michael find and save Walt from a polar bear.

Episode 1x15, Homecoming

Locke and Boone find Claire in the jungle.

Episode 1x16, Outlaws

Locke tells Sawyer and Kate a story about how when his sister died his mother thought that she'd returned as a golden retriever.

Episode 1x17, In Translation

Locke knows that Walt burned the raft and asks him why and promises not to tell. He and Walt both like living on the island.

Episode 1x18, Numbers

Without telling Claire what it is, Locke gets Claire to help build what turns out to be a cradle for her baby.

Episode 1x19, Deus Ex Machina

Locke has tried several times to get into the hatch, but can't. He has a dream about a plane crashing and Boone being bloody. He gets Boone to go with him to find the plane. Locke's begins to lose feeling in his legs and has a harder and harder time walking. He finally admits to Boone that he had previously been in a wheelchair.

Locke sends Boone to climb the cliff to get into the plane to see what's inside. Boone figures out that the plane belonged to drug smugglers. Locke can't figure out what is going on. Locke tells Boone to get out when the plane starts to sway. The plane falls to the ground, with Boone inside. Locke carries Boone back to camp and tells Jack that he fell from a cliff while they were hunting. Before Jack can get any more information, Locke is gone.

It's dark and Locke is beating on the hatch, wondering why this happened. A light comes on from inside the hatch.

Episode 1x21, The Greater Good

Locke admits that Boone's accident was his fault. Locke takes Sayid to the plane and admits that he was the one to knock Sayid out when Sayid had tried to a triangulate a signal for the transceiver.

Shannon tries to kill Locke, but Sayid saves him. Locke thanks Sayid, knowing what a big deal it was for Sayid to go against Shannon.

Sayid asks Locke about the hatch and tells him to stop lying.

Episode 1x22, Born to Run

Locke lets Sayid bring Jack to the hatch.

Episode 1x23, Exodus Part 1

Locke goes with a group to find dynamite at the Black Rock. When they hear the unseen force , Locke tells Hurley to hold back, and the noises pass.

Episode 1x24, Exodus Part 2

Locke carries some of the dynamite in his backpack.

Locke goes towards the unseen force, instead of away from it like everyone else, but as it hovers over him, Locke's expression goes from wonder to terror. Locke is pulled by the unseen force into a large hole in the ground. Jack grabs him, but Locke begs Jack to let him go.

Jack has Kate throw dynamite down the hole and Locke is released.

Jack asks Locke why he wanted Jack to let him go. Locke says that Jack is a man of science, while Locke is a man of faith. And they were all brought to the island for a reason.

At the hatch, Locke lights the fuse to blow open the hatch, even though Hurley yells for him not to.
