Calming Shannon
Shannon has an asthma attack and Boone tries to calm her. Sawyer approaches the spring to fill a water bottle and Jack demands the inhalers. Jack punches him."Well, it's about time, cowboy," Sawyer says. "Been telling you since day one we're in the wild."
Sawyer's Flashback - The Girl And Her Husband
Sawyer poses as a co-worker with the woman he has been sleeping with and they approach her husband. Sawyer tells him of the deal. All the while, the woman Sawyer has been sleeping with prods her husband to do the deal, but he seems unconvinced and Sawyer says never mind and begins to leave. "Wait!" the husband says.Missing Peanut Butter
Charlie and Claire discuss what they miss of the comforts of home. Claire misses warm fluffy towels, but Charlie misses food. Claire admits that she has really been craving peanut butter. Charlie makes a deal with her. If he gets her peanut butter, she has to move to the caves. She agrees.Give Sayid Ten Minutes With Sawyer
Shannon gasps for air in the caves. Jack calms her by having her take deep breathes through her nose. Once he gets her calmed down a little he tells Boone to keep her from panicking and he takes off, followed by Sayid. Sayid tells him that part of his training in the Republican Guard entailed getting the enemy to communicate. "Just give me ten minutes with him," Sayid says and after an agonized look, Jack agrees.Piggyback Hurley
Hurley and Charlie walk through the jungle, Charlie asking about peanut butter and peanuts. Hurley says there is nothing left. "Yeah, but, there's got to be something. I mean, look at you."Hurley is offended. He says that for the record he's down a notch on his belt.
"I'm a big guy," Hurley says. "It's going to be a while before you're going to want to give me a piggyback ride, okay?"Charlie apologizes and Hurley mentions that Sawyer is the one who hoards things.
Sun approaches Michael and in English tells him that she thinks she can help Shannon.
Torture Sawyer
Sawyer wakes up to see Sayid standing over him. "Good morning," Sayid says, and then punches Sawyer hard enough to knock him out. Jack and Sayid drag Sawyer to a tree and tie him up, as Kate protests.They wake Sawyer by splashing him with water and Jack makes one last attempt to reason with him. Sawyer says, "You know what I think, Ali? I think you've never actually tortured anybody in your life."
Sayid says, "Unfortunately for us both, you're wrong."
Sayid puts bamboo slivers under Sawyer's fingernails, as Sawyer screams. Jack can't watch and eventually asks Sayid to stop.
"Don't stop now," Sawyer says, "I think my sinuses are clearing."Sayid threatens to put a knife through Sawyer's eye. Sawyer says he'll talk, but only to Kate.
Sawyer's Flashback - Women Easy, Men A Bit Harder
In a pool hall, Sawyer talks to a man who wants his money back plus 50 percent. Sawyer says he's working on it. The women are easy, "a few cocktails, a couple of stunts they hadn't seen between the sheets, and they think the scam is their idea." He explains that the husbands are a bit harder and have to think that they are smarter than Sawyer.Kate Slaps Sawyer
Kate approaches Sawyer, still tied to the tree. He asks if she's going to let Shannon suffer over one little kiss. Kate finally agrees to kiss him, but an innocent peck turns into something more that they both seem to enjoy. She pulls away and they stare into each others' eyes. Sawyer admits that he never had the medicine and that the book washed up on shore. Kate slaps Sawyer, hard!Kate returns to Jack and Sayid and tells them Sawyer doesn't have the meds. Sayid takes off and Kate and Jack run after him to try and calm him down. They find Sawyer, just working himself free of the tree and Sayid attacks him with the knife. He stabs Sawyer in the shoulder, then steps back, looking scared.
Jack pulls the knife out and says he hit an artery. He presses on the wound and tells Sayid to go get his medical bag.
At the caves, Michael returns with some branches and asks Sun if they are the right ones. She says that they are.
Jack continues to hold pressure on Sawyer's wound as he drifts in and out of consciousness.
"You've been waiting for this, haven't you?" Sawyer tells Jack. "Now you get to be the hero again, because that's what you do -- fix everything up all nice. Tell him to let go, Freckles. We already made out, what else have I got to live for? Hey, Jack, there's something you should know -- if the tables were turned, I'd watch you die."
