Flashbacks in Italics

This episode opens with a close-up of the eye of a guitar then pans out to show Charlie struggling to play the guitar. He is sweating and agitated and must be going through the first stages of heroin withdrawal. Locke suggests they go for a walk, but Charlie declines.

Sayid Has A Plan

Jack is looking at mug shots of Kate. She comes up behind him and says, "I take better pictures than that." Jack claims that the pictures were among his stuff. They have another argument about the beach versus the caves, then Kate tells him that Sayid has a plan.

With Jack gone, the infirmary tent is vacant and Sawyer moves in. Sawyer looks around the tent and tells Kate, "I can fix this place up real good. Might even find someone to share it with me."

Where's Locke?

Charlie is alone in the jungle and hears what he thinks is the unseen force. He whispers, "Locke? Locke, is that you?" Charlie is obviously terrified.

Charlie's Flashback - Physical Relations

Charlie is in the confessional. It's been a week since his last confession. The previous night he'd had relations with a girl he didn't know, then another. Then he watched the two of them have relations with each other. "You see, it's my band, DriveShaft." Charlie explains that the band is popular and temptations are everywhere.

The Father says, "But giving in to them, that's your choice." Charlie resolves to quit the band, but as he leaves the confessional he sees a man he calls Liam stretched out on a pew. Liam tells Charlie that they got a recording contract.

Charlie Bait

Charlie is running from a boar, but just before the boar gets him, it's caught up in a net.
Locke comes out from behind a bush and says, "Nice work, Charlie! You make excellent bait."
Charlie is furious and asks Locke for his drugs back. Locke explains that he's going to let Charlie ask three times and on the third time he'll give him the drugs. And just to be clear, he makes sure Charlie knows that this was one. Charlie asks why he doesn't just throw the drugs away and Locke explains that would take away his choice, which is the only thing that separates Charlie from the boar.

On the Beach
Sayid has three antennae. He enlists Kate and Boone to help him set them up to try and pinpoint the position of the French Woman's signal. They have to be in three different positions around the island and, because of low batteries, they have to know when everyone is in position. Sayid pulls out some bottle rockets. The battery of the transceiver is dead, so Kate goes to Sawyer and convinces him to give her a battery from a laptop.

Suitcases of Drugs

Charlie is strumming his guitar when Jack and a complaining Hurley show up with suitcases filled with everything Jack thinks they'll need. Charlie offers to help and grabs a suitcase that flops open and a bunch of pill bottles spill out. He begins to clean it up, but Jack sees him look at one of the bottles and asks what he's doing. "It's for a headache," Charlie says. Jack tells him that drug is too strong for a headache and sends Charlie on his way where he again picks up the guitar.

Charlie's Flashback - DriveShaft

"Come on, Charlie! You are bloody DriveShaft." Liam tries to convince Charlie to stay in the band. Liam promises that they'll look out for each other because that's what brothers do. "You're the bloody, Rock God, baby brother."

Charlie finally agrees but makes Liam promise that if things get too crazy they'll just walk away.
