Sun's Flashback - A New Puppy
Sun walks into a nice apartment carrying shopping bags. She sees a large box with a bow. She opens it to find a cute little puppy. Jin comes from another room and says he got the puppy to keep her company during the nights when he works late. Sun looks sad and replies, "Remember when all you had to get me was a flower?" The phone rings and Jin says it's her father and disappears into another room.
Bring the People to the Water
Locke thinks he and Charlie should spend the night at the caves so that they can finish going through the wreckage. Jack talks about how much time and energy it will take to cart all the water to the beach, and suggests that they live in the caves instead of on the beach. "Instead of bringing the water to the people," he says, "let's bring the people to the water." Kate looks as if she thinks it's a bad idea.
Walt vs. Jin
Walt and Jin stare each other down. Michael sees and has angry words for Jin, then pulls Walt a little ways down the beach. Walt wants to know what Michael did to provoke Jin's attack. Upset, Michael says he didn't do anything. How could he? He'd spent almost every waking hour with Walt. "What did your mother tell you about me?""Nothing, she never talked about you," Walt says.
Michael and Walt argue that each knows nothing about the other. Michael asks Walt what his (Michael's) birthday is. Walt doesn't know. Walt asks Michael was his birthday is, and Michael says August 24th (8/24).
Communication Barrier
Sun begs Jin to let her explain what had happened, but Jin refuses, mostly because of the language barrier.Sun's Flashback - Wash the Blood from your Hands
Sun is asleep on the couch with her puppy, which is now a full-sized dog. Jin comes home and she follows him to the bathroom where she sees him washing a lot of blood off his hands. She asks what he was doing and he says working. "What do you do for my father?" she demands. He pushes her away and she slaps him.He looks at her coldly, "I do whatever your father tells me to do. I do it for us." Sun, looking terrified, leaves the bathroom.
Checking Out Kate and Charlie
Jack and Kate hike back to the beach. Kate asks Jack if he's checking her out, but he just says that he's thinking about the caves and what a great shelter they will make.At the caves, Charlie tries to sneak away, but Locke follows him. Locke doesn't believe that Charlie is just going to the loo. "I know who you are," Locke says, "and I know what you're looking for."
Charlie looks really nervous, but breaks out into a wide grin when Locke says, "DriveShaft. You played bass."
Locke asks how long it's been since Charlie played his guitar and Charlie says, "Eight days." Locke tells him to have faith and his guitar will be returned. Charlie looks at Locke like he's crazy.
Caves or Beach
The survivors are split about whether to move to the caves or not. The caves would be more comfortable and are close to the water source, but the beach is where they will see a passing boat or plane that could rescue them.Sawyer approaches Kate and asks how it is to have both the doctor and Captain Falafel (referring to Sayid) fighting over her? He asks if she's going to the caves and she asks if he's going, but neither answers the other's question.
Hurley asks Jack what's going on with he and Kate.
"You two going to move into a cave together, or what?" Hurley asks."Am I in high school?" Jack says.
"That wasn't a denial," Hurley says.
Sun approaches Michael as he chops wood.
Sun's Flashback - Plans for America
Sun, now with short hair, speaks with an interior designer in her home, while Jin, on the phone, looks on. The two move to another room to keep from disturbing Jin and the designer asks Sun if she's been taking her lessons. Sun says she has and the designer says, "Do you realize that your husband and your father will do everything they can to find you?"The designer gives Sun an envelope full of papers that appear to be fake passports. She tells Sun to walk out of the airport at 11:15. Sun repeats this time over and over.
Sun Speaks English
Watching Michael chop wood, Sun says, in perfect English, "I need to talk to you."Astonished, Michael says, "You speak English? Why didn't you say anything?"
"My husband doesn't know," she says. "What my husband did to you, it was a misunderstanding." She explains that Jin attacked him because the watch Michael was wearing belongs to her father and Jin was protecting his honor. Sun says she needs Michael's help.
