Hope
Jack, Kate, Locke, and Hurley walk carefully though the jungle. "So, dude," Hurley says, "What do you think is inside of that hatch thing?"Locke flips the question back on Hurley and he hopes there are stacks of TV dinners from the 50s inside. He's also hoping for TVs, cable, cell phones, clean socks, soap, and Twinkies.
Locke likes Twinkies too. Hurley asks, "Really? What do you think is inside?"
"Hope," Locke says. "I think hope is inside."A large bird flies, scaring them.
Hurley says, "Whoever named this place Dark Territory? Genius."A weird grinding sound is coming from the trees. Jack sees what looks like a puff of black smoke go by them. He looks at Kate. "Yeah, I saw it," she says. "We've got to get out of here!"
The sounds of the unseen force get louder. Jack carefully puts down his pack and runs with Kate (who is still wearing her pack) and Hurley. Locke takes his pack off and goes toward the unseen force.
Jack goes back for Locke and asks what he's doing. The sound of the unseen force dies down, then there is a sudden sound like a footstep and a tree is uprooted right next to Locke. Locke falls down and looks up into the unseen force. His expression changes from wonder to terror.
Locke scrambles to get away and Jack runs after him. Hurley and Kate realize that Jack is not behind them and turn around to find him. Something grabs Locke by the ankles and a loud pulley type of sound erupts in the jungle as Locke is dragged.
Jack dives for Locke and grabs his hands. Locke is dragged to a huge hole in the ground. Jack braces his feet against the outside of the hole while he holds on to Locke. We can't see whatever has a hold of Locke's legs.
Jack yells for Kate to get the dynamite and she carefully removes her pack. "No, no, it's in my pack," Jack says. Kate glares at him. "Just go get it. Hurry, go!"
Locke says, "Let me go. Just let me go. I'll be alright." Locke struggles to get free of Jack.
Jack wants Kate to throw the dynamite down the hole, but Locke tells her not to. After a moment of hesitation, she unwraps one stick and throws it down the hole. It falls for a long time before exploding.
A puff of black smoke rises behind Locke. It seems to gather together and then disappear.
The Watch
Michael picks up the notebook that Sun made for Jin. It also has Jin's watch on it. They talk about the notebook a bit and Michael hands Jin the watch. Jin stares at the watch for a moment and then gives it to Michael. Michael is full of emotion at this turn of events.Aaron
Sun brings Claire tea. "Aaron is a beautiful name. What does it mean?" Sun asks.Claire says, "I don't know what Aaron means."
Sun says that they will bring him back. Charlie said he would, so he will.
Rousseau's Trap
Sayid and Charlie run through the jungle. Charlie sees the baby wrapped in his blanket at the base of a tree. He runs for the baby and Sayid yells for him to wait. Charlie picks up the baby, but it is just a log wrapped in a blanket. Charlie looks up just as a pile of rocks fall on him.Sayid looks at Charlie's wounds. He gives him a rag and tells him to keep pressure on it. Sayid says that the wound is deep and bleeding a lot. Charlie will have to go back. Charlie refuses to go back without the baby and tells Sayid to fix it.
Sayid opens a bullet and dumps gunpowder on the wound.
"This is not going to be pleasant," Sayid says.Sayid lights a match. Charlie's scream is heard through the jungle.
