We Can't Do This!

Locke and Jack set the charges. Jack and Kate head for cover and Locke says that he'll light the fuse and then have plenty of time to get to cover. Jack calls for Hurley to come to where he and Kate are.

Kate and Jack argue about Jack taking the dynamite in his pack when she was supposed to take it in hers. He says he made a judgment call and it was too big of a decision to leave to straws.

Kate says he had no right to make that choice and he says, "Everybody wants me to be a leader until I make a decision that they don't like. You want to keep second guessing me, Kate, that's your call. But, if we survive tonight, we're going to have a Locke problem. I have to know that you've got my back."
"I've got your back," she says.

Locke yells, "Are we ready?"

Hurley is not in place yet and yells, "Wait a sec." He drops his flashlight and it shines on the numbers on the hatch: 4 8 15 16 23 42. He runs toward Locke. "No! Stop! We can't do this!"

Locke lights the fuse. "The numbers are bad. Why did you do that?" Hurley tries to stomp out the fuse. Jack tackles Hurley right before the dynamite detonates.

A Boat

The radar on the raft beeps, but they don't see anything across the water. Michael and Sawyer argue whether or not to use the flare gun. Sawyer wants to use it, but Michael is not convinced that there is actually a ship out there. The bleep on the radar begins getting further away and Walt begs Michael to use the flare gun, so he finally gives in and uses it.

For an agonizing second, the bleeps disappear, but suddenly they return and a boat gets close enough for them to hear. They can't see it, because it is nighttime. Suddenly a spotlight shines on them and they are overjoyed at having finally been rescued!

It looks like a rather rickety boat with four people on board. A scruffy looking bearded man asks what they are doing so far out and Michael explains.

The bearded man thinks it's quite a story and says, "Only, the thing is, we're going to have to take your boy?"

"What?" a confused Michael asks.

"The boy," the man answers, "we're going to have to take him."

Sawyer pulls his gun, but one of the men on the boat is faster and shoots Sawyer. Sawyer falls in the water and Jin jumps in after him. The men on the boat get onto the raft and take Walt, pushing Michael into the water. A woman on the boat throws something on the raft, and it blows up.

The boat drives away with Walt screaming, "Help me! Dad! Please!"

Aaron Returns

Charlie and Sayid bring Aaron back to Claire in the caves. Claire is overjoyed and kisses Charlie. Sayid goes to the spring and Shannon runs to him, throwing herself in his arms.

A Virgin Mary statue is barely visible in Charlie's backpack.

Plane Flashback

Passengers board Flight 815. Claire squeezes past a big guy and Arzt helps her put her stuff away. Kate has a coat over her handcuffs as the Marshal leads them to their seats. Sawyer looks dejected and like he can't find his seat. Charlie is strung out and trying to put his guitar away.

Sayid sits down and other passengers gives him suspicious looks. Jin examines the watch in his carry-on bag. Walt plays a video game. Michael buckles Walt in. The Marshal fastens the other end of Kate's handcuffs to the seat. Sayid looks at a picture of Nadia. Shannon frantically looks through her bag and Boone hands her an inhaler. She smiles at him.

Hurley sits and pulls out headphones and a comic book, the one with the polar bear. Jack and Locke make eye contact and smile politely.

Inside the Hatch

Jack and Locke pull the door off the hatch and shine their torches inside. A broken ladder goes down a long, long tunnel.
