Turnip Head cries and Charlie rushes over. Claire attempts to change the baby's diaper. Charlie says, "Claire, everybody's leaving."
Claire is frazzled. "Okay, well, I can't go anywhere, alright? I've got the baby, and I'm so tired, I can't carry him. Now he's wet and there's sand everywhere. I don't have any more nappies."
Charlie offers to help, but Claire waves him away saying, "No! Nobody ever taught me how to do this, okay?"
Charlie asks Sayid for a gun so that he can protect Claire, but Sayid says that he's emotionally involved and the best way to help Claire is to get her packed and to take her and her baby to the caves.
Black Rock in the Jungle
Locke, Hurley, Arzt, Kate, Jack, and Rousseau look at the land-locked ship with vegetation growing over it. "How exactly does something like this happen?" Hurley asks.Rousseau says, "Are you on the same island as I am?""I guess that explains it," Hurley says.
Arzt speculates that perhaps a tsunami deposited the ship there, a couple of miles inland.
Rousseau starts to leave and Jack asks her where she's going. "Explosives are in the hold of the ship," she says. Jack tries to stop her from leaving but she says, "I did what you asked. You need dynamite, you don't need me."
Locke tells him to let her go. He will lead them back.
Arzt won't go in the ship. "I came here to tell you how to handle dynamite, not explore some ghost ship."
Hurley elects to stay outside with Arzt.
Inside the ship they find skeletons chained to the walls. "Slaves," Locke says. He finds some equipment and says, "This ship must have been in route to a mining colony."
Kate finds boxes of explosives.
Outside the Black Rock, Hurley stares straight ahead in boredom. Arzt is in mid-story, "And then my third wife, she says, get this, she says, 'I didn't sign up for this.' Now you tell me, what the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Hurley doesn't answer and Arzt says, "What, am I boring you? I'm sorry that I'm not cool enough to be part of your merry little band of adventurers. I know a clique when I see it. You people think you're the only ones on this island doing anything of value. I've got news for you. There were 40 other survivors of this plane crash. And we are all people, too."
Kate tries to pry a box open with a pickax, but Jack stops her and they take it outside. Arzt sees them bringing it out and freaks. "Put that down carefully. Come away from there."
Arzt makes everyone step back and then goes to the box. He pries it open with a pocket knife. "Do any of you have any idea what happens to dynamite in ninety degree heat? It sweats nitroglycerin."
Jack moves toward him and Arzt says, "Whoa, hey what are you doing? Did I ask you to come closer?"
Jack steps back and Arzt removes a stick of dynamite from the crate. "Nitroglycerin is the most dangerous and unstable explosive known to man." He asks for Kate's shirt, dips it in water, and wraps it around the dynamite stick.
Arzt says, "We're not going to take any more of this stuff than we need because nitroglycerin is extremely temperamental so we-" BOOM! The dynamite explodes and Arzt is gone.
