Walt's Flashback - You're Not My Father
Oceanic tickets sit on the nightstand. Walt opens the curtains in a hotel room and looks out at the Sydney skyline just before sunrise. He turns on the TV and Michael wakes up. Walt says he's watching TV and Michael asks him to turn down the volume.Walt turns the volume up. "I said turn it down, Walt," Michael says.
"Brian lets me watch it as loud as I want."
"I'm not Brian," Michael says. He grabs the remote. Walt gets Vincent and walks out in his pajamas.
Michael follows him down the hall as they argue. When Walt gets into the elevator, Michael pulls both he and Vincent out, explaining to other hotel guests that he's Walt's father.
"No, you're not!" Walt screams. "You're not my father! You're not my father!"
The French Chick
Walt wakes early and crawls out to relieve himself. No one else is up yet and he sees a woman he doesn't know walking the perimeter of camp. He yells for his dad and, in the process, wakes everyone else too.Charlie wonders who the woman is and Sawyer says, "She's got to be the French chick."
Sayid recognizes Rousseau and tells everyone to calm down. Claire's baby cries and Rousseau and Claire stare at each other.
Sayid runs up to Rousseau and says, "Danielle, what are you doing here?"
Rousseau says, "The Others are coming."Rousseau explains that her ship ran aground 16 years ago. There were six of them and she was already seven months pregnant. She delivered the baby herself. "The baby and I were together for only one week when I saw black smoke. A pillar of black smoke five kilometers inland," she says. "That night they came and took my baby, Alex. They took my baby, and now they're coming again."
Jack asks who is coming.
Rousseau says, "The Others. You have three choices: run, hide, or die."
Michael Needs Everyone's Help
Jack and Locke walk along the beach. Jack thinks that Rousseau is crazy. Locke points out that just because she's crazy doesn't mean she's not right. Jack wants to stick to the tangible, and right now, that's launching the raft.Jack asks Michael how it's going with the raft and Michael says that he needs everyone's help in order to get the raft into the water. Jack rallies everyone and they make rails to get the raft to the water.
The raft falls off the rails and Sawyer and Michael blame each other, getting into a big argument, until Walt interrupts to point out the pillar of black smoke on the horizon.
Sayid, Locke, and Jack find Rousseau cleaning her rifle on another part of the beach. Jack says, "How many of them are there?"
"I've told you all I know," she says. She says that she is just one person and can vanish into the jungle. "You have forty people, where will you hide them?"
Dynamite, Black Rock, Dark Territory
Jack, Locke, Sayid, Hurley (seeing the hatch for the first time), and Rousseau look at the hatch. Rousseau asks what it is and Jack says, "We were hoping you could tell us." But she doesn't know.Sayid makes it clear that he still thinks it's a bad idea to open it, but Jack wants everyone to hide inside. Locke says to Rousseau, "You booby-trapped your shelter with explosives. You have anymore?"
She says, "Dynamite, by the Black Rock in the Dark Territory."
"Well that's three reasons to go right there," Hurley says sarcastically.
