Kate's Flashback - Tom Dies
Tom wheels Diane into the MRI room and Kate steps out of hiding. He says he'll be right in the office next door.Kate gets close to Diane and says, "Hi, Mom."
Diane's eyes flutter open and she says, "Katherine?"
Kate says, "It's me, Katherine. I'm so sorry for everything I have put you though."
Diane's eyes get big and she looks terrified of Kate. She screams for help.
Kate runs out and runs into a security guard. He asks what's going on and she says that her mother is confused and she's running to get a doctor. He grabs her arm and talks into his walkie-talkie, "We've got a situation-"
Kate grabs his walkie-talkie and hits him with it, knocking him out. Tom comes in and asks what happened.
"I need your car keys," Kate says. She takes them and runs, with Tom right behind her. They get into his car, and Kate pulls out of the space. A police car blocks the exit and she tells Tom to get out.
"I'm not letting you do this," Tom says. "Katie, if you cooperate they go easy-" She says that they are calling for backup and he needs to get out. "You can have a real life," he says.
She begs him to get out, but he doesn't. Kate guns the engine and the officer gets several shots off before his car is rammed out of the way and Kate drives past him. They are about to get away, but another car slams into them, disabling Tom's car.
She looks over at Tom, but he is dead, shot in the chest. A siren approaches. Kate glances to the back seat where the time capsule treasures are spilled, then jumps out and runs.
Kate's Confession
Sawyer says to Kate, "You want to tell us why you need to run so bad? You want to tell us the truth?"Kate says, "Yes, I was on the plane with the Marshal. Yes, I was wanted and caught and being transported back. No matter what I say about what happened, about what I supposedly did, I'm going to jail."She says she didn't poison Michael.
That afternoon, from afar, Sun watches Jin put the final touches on the raft. Jack approaches her and says that she doesn't want him to go. She agrees.
Jack says, "Is that why you tried to make him sick? Michael and Jin working together all the time, pretty easy for them to get their water bottles mixed up."
Sun looks remorseful. "I didn't want him to die out there. I just didn't know what to do. I only used enough to make him sick. I wasn't trying to hurt him."
Jack promises not to tell the others. "But Sun, he's going. If I were you I'd say goodbye."
That night Sawyer approaches Kate to tell her that he's back on the raft. He says she had him cornered and he had to out her or his place might have gotten taken. She asks why it's so important for him to get off the island and he says, "Because there ain't anything on this island worth staying for."
Walt finds his dad by the raft and asks if he's feeling better. Michael says he is and that they will be leaving the next day.
"I'm the one that burned the raft," Walt says. "I didn't want to leave and I thought I could stop you. Sorry. I'm really sorry."
At first Michael is mad, but then he says it's okay and they can stay on the island. "We don't have to go."
"Yes we do," Walt says.
Sun finds Kate in Kate's tent and says that Jack knows about the poison. Kate looks scared until Sun says that she didn't tell him it was Kate's idea.
They sit for a moment, then Sun says, "When I was a little girl I believed that once I found the man I loved, I would be happy forever."
Kate says, "Yeah, me too."
