Shannon's Confession
Sayid and Shannon share a kiss, then Shannon tells him that she and Boone are really stepbrother and stepsister and that Boone is in love with her.Sayid asks her feelings toward Boone and she says that she will always feel something, but she is not in love with him in that way. Sayid asks if she wants to go back and she says no, that she just wants to take it slow.
In another part of the jungle, Charlie and Jin find Claire and Kate. Kate asks where Jack is.
Charlie says, "He's pouring his blood into Boone."
Kate says they have to get Claire to the caves before it's too late, but Charlie tells her that she has to deliver Claire's baby.
Kate says she can't do it, but Charlie says that Jack told him what to tell her.
"You know I was out there for a over a week," Claire says. "Days I can't remember. I mean, what if they did something to the baby? I'm not ready for this. I'm not. I'm scared."
Kate says that she is scared too.
Jack has Given Enough
Jack checks Boone's eyes. Sun says the transfusion is not working and Jack says it's not the transfusion that's the problem. The blood is pooling in Boone's leg. He didn't get these injuries from a fall. His legs were crushed.Sun pulls the transfusion tube from Jack's arm. She says that Jack has given Boone enough. Jack goes outside and Hurley says he's not looking so good. Jack says he needs Michael and sends Hurley to find him.
Jack's Flashback - Jack's Father Arrives
Jack is sitting by the hotel pool. His father walks up and sits beside him. Jack says that Sarah wants them to write their own vows. His dad reads from the piece of paper, "My heart skips beats at the sound of your voice. My skin warms to the touch of your fingers. Where you go, I will go." He says it's very nice."Those aren't my vows," Jack says. "Those are hers. I stole them out of the room. Can't write mine."
Jack's dad points out that he's a doctor, not a writer. He asks if Jack loves her and if she loves him and Jack says yes to both, but wonders if he can be a good husband and father. "What if I asked her because I saved her life? Should I marry her, Dad?"
His dad says, "Commitment is what makes you tick, Jack. The problem is you're just not good at letting go."
The Baby Won't Want Claire
Jack examines a cargo container. "You're saying Locke lied?" Michael says."He didn't fall," Jack says. "His leg was under something heavy."
Michael suggests they use the axe instead of the cargo container, but Jack says the axe won't work and puts a log in the container door and slams it, cutting the log in half.
In the jungle with Claire, Kate says, "Claire, I think this is about the time you're supposed to start pushing, okay? So push." Claire holds her breath. "Claire, what are you doing? You can't stop this, this is happening. Your baby is coming and I need your help."
Claire says that the baby won't want her because it knows she was going to give it away.
Kate says that she wants the baby now and that it's all of theirs. Claire begins to push and Jin stops Charlie from going to her.
Jack Can't Save Boone
Jack and Michael move Boone into position with his leg in the cargo door. Sun says, "Why are you doing this? He's bleeding inside. You're not helping him. You can't save him, Jack. You just can't!Jack says not to tell him what he can't do and puts a tourniquet on Boone's leg. He and Sun stare at each other and Sun walks away.
Jack's Flashback - His Wedding
Sarah finishes her vows and the minister asks Jack to say his. Jack hesitates and the minister asks him again.Jack says, "I didn't write any vows. I've been trying to for a month, but I couldn't. So I started to wonder why that was. And as time went on it only got worse, because I'm not good at letting go. Or maybe I'm afraid of what will happen if I fail. But I know one thing. I would have never been able to write anything as beautiful as what you just said. And last night, Sarah, when you were talking about the accident, you got it all wrong. I didn't fix you. You fixed me. I love you, Sarah, and I always will."
They kiss.
Letting Jack Off the Hook
Jack is about to cut off Boone's leg, but Boone tells him not to. He knows he's all messed up inside. Jack says this is the only chance, and Boone says, "I know you made a promise. I'm letting you off the hook. Let me go, Jack."
Jack says, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Boone says.
