Sun's English Secret Comes Out
Sawyer brings Jin to the beach and knocks him down. He unties him. Chaos erupts as Michael tries to get to Jin and Jack holds him back. Everyone argues until Sun yells in English, "Stop it! Leave him alone. He didn't burn your raft!""You speak English?" Charlie says.
"Didn't see that coming," Hurley says.
Jack says, "You understood us? All this time? Why didn't you say anything?"
Sun tells Michael, "Your raft, it was already on fire when he arrived. He burned his hands trying to put it out."
"Then why did he run?" Michael want to know.
In Korean, Sun asks Jin why he ran, but Jin doesn't answer. Sawyer points out that from Jin's expression he didn't know that Sun spoke English either, so how do they know she's not just covering for him?
Locke steps in and says that they are so worried about blaming each other they are not paying attention to the real threat.
Locke points to the jungle. "We're not the only people on this island and we all know it."
Later, Michael tells Walt that it was just a setback and they will build a better raft. Walt asks if he can help.
Too Late To Start Over?
Jin is packing and Sun asks if he's moving to the beach and is that the best way to deal with her? She admits that she was going to leave him, but he changed her mind and made her think that he still loved her, so she stayed with him. She wants to know if they can just start over.Jin's Flashback
Jin gets out of his car and walks along a pier to a small fishing boat. The man in the boat looks surprised to see him. "Father, please forgive me," Jin says. "I was ashamed of you."His father hugs him and asks what Sun is like. "She is beautiful, intelligent, hardheaded. We don't talk anymore." He asks why and Jin explains, "Because I can't tell her about her father. In a good world, she would hate him, not me."
"It is a good world," Jin's father says. Jin says that his father doesn't know what he's done, but his father says it doesn't matter and he should start over.
He explains that he has responsibilities. He has to take watches to Mr. Paik's associates in Sydney and America. His father suggests that once they get to America, he and Sun stay there.
Too Late
Jin tells Sun that it's too late to mend their marriage and he walks off.That night Shannon finds Sayid and gently kisses him. He wants to know what that was for and Shannon says, "Everyone gets a new life on the this island. I'd like to start now."
Later, alone in the cave, Locke sits down with Walt to play backgammon. Locke says he won't tell, but he wants to know why Walt burned the raft. Walt says that he's been moving his whole life and he likes it here.
Locke says he likes it here too.
The next morning, Michael begins building a new raft. Jin comes out of the jungle carrying freshly cut bamboo. "Boat," he says, and begins working with Michael.
