"Outlaws" Recap

Part 3

By Bonnie Covel, About.com

Sawyer's Flashback - Sawyer Finds Frank Duckett

Sawyer sits in a car, staring at a shrimp truck in the distance. He goes up to the truck and Frank asks if he wants shrimp with hot sauce or mild sauce. Hot, Sawyer answers. Frank talks as he makes the dish, saying that it's 50% off since Sawyer is American.

The gun shakes in Sawyer's hand. Frank brings the dish to the counter, but Sawyer is gone.

Sawyer's Flashback - Sawyer Meets Christian Shephard

Sawyer is in a bar knocking back shots. Another American, who is drunk, begins to talk to him, and we see that it's Dr. Christian Shephard, Jack's father. "We're all suffering, but don't beat yourself up about it. It's fate. That's why the Red Sox will never win the damn series."

He tells Sawyer that he has a son who thinks that he hates him. "He thinks I feel betrayed by him," Christian says. "But what I really feel is gratitude and pride because of what he did to me."

Christian mentions the pay phone, saying he could pick it up and call his son. Sawyer asks why he doesn't and Christian answers, "Because I am weak." He asks Sawyer if the business he has will ease his suffering and Sawyer says yes. "Then what are you doing here?"

Later, Sawyer is in the rain at the shrimp truck, watching Frank clean up.

Sayid Talks to Charlie

Sayid approaches Charlie and asks how he's doing. Charlie says that he's fine. He killed Ethan because Ethan was killing them and took Claire and almost killed Charlie. Charlie says he would do it again.

Sayid says, "When I was in the army in Tikrit, in Iraq, the man who lived next door was a policeman. One day his car was rigged with a bomb. It killed his wife and 3 young children instead. They caught the man who did it. I volunteered to be on the firing squad, and I did my duty without a single ounce of remorse. Then, for no reason, I found myself waking up at night, replaying what I did in my head."

Charlie thinks that perhaps Sayid is the one who needs checking on. Sayid tells him that what happened with Ethan will be with him for the rest of his life. Charlie gives in and says, "Any suggestions?"

"You're not alone," Sayid says. "Don't pretend to be."

Boar Piglet

Kate finds a boar wallow and Sawyer catches a piglet. "I thought it'd be bigger," Kate says.

"Funny," Sawyer answers. "Now we know daddy's got to be around here."

Sawyer holds up the piglet. "Here piggy, piggy, piggy."
Kate is worried that he'll hurt the piglet and asks him to put it down. He doesn't and she kicks him, causing him to drop the piglet.

"Find your own way home," Kate says, and leaves him in the jungle.

Sawyer's Flashback - Sawyer Shoots

Sawyer walks up to Frank and says, "Sawyer." Frank turns around and Sawyer shoots him. "I've got a letter for you, Dear Mr. Sawyer-"

"Who?" Frank asks as he's bleeding. Sawyer says that he used to go by the name of Sawyer and the man doesn't know what he's talking about. Then Frank says, "Tell Hibbs I would've paid."

Sawyer realizes that he's shot the wrong man.

Just before he dies, Frank says, "It'll come back around."

Sawyer Faces the Boar

Sawyer is walking around the jungle, yelling for Kate. He comes face to face with his boar and points his gun. Sawyer and the boar stare at each other. Kate is in the distance, watching. They stare some more, then Sawyer lowers the gun. He sees Kate and says, "It's just a boar. Let's get back to camp."

Life Continues on the Beach

Jin and Sun repair a net. Walt plays with Vincent. Michael works on the raft. Claire is alone on the beach and Charlie, looking much better, approaches her and asks if she wants to take that walk now.

Sawyer Pulls a Gun on Jack

Sawyer approaches Jack with the gun and says, "Stick 'em up."

Jack says, "Trying to be funny?"

Sawyer hands Jack the gun and Jack reminds Sawyer that he'd asked for the gun 2 days ago.

"I made a deal with your girlfriend."

"What did she give you?" Jack asks.

"Nothing she wasn't willing to part with."

Jack says, "That's why the Sox will never win the series."

"What's that?" Sawyer asks. Jack explains that it's just something his father used to say. Sawyer asks if Jack's father was a doctor too. And Jack asks why he wants to know. "No reason," Sawyer says.
