Don't Blabber, Boone
Boone wants to tell everyone else about the hatch, or at least Shannon. He doesn't want to lie to her anymore. Locke says that Shannon is not ready to find out about the hatch. Boone tells Locke that he's telling Shannon when they get back to camp.Locke says it's Boone's decision, but as Boone walks away, Locke whacks him on the head with the end of his knife, knocking him out.
Boone wakes and he is tied to a tree. Locke is in front of him, mixing something in a coconut. Boone begs to be set free and promises not to tell anyone of the hatch. "I'm doing this, Boone, because it's time for you to let go of some things, because it's what's best for you. And I promise you're going to thank me later."
Locke smears the mixture on Boone's head wound, then begins to walk away. Boone screams for Locke not to leave him there and Locke throws a knife in front of Boone, just out of his reach. "You'll be able to cut yourself free once you have the proper motivation."
With Locke gone, Boone yells for help.
Boone's Flashback - Boone Takes Out His Checkbook
Boone is in the police station, but the officer says that he can't help. He tells the officer what a bad guy Shannon's boyfriend is. They are distracted by other cops bringing in someone. It's Sawyer. He's yelling, "It was his bottle, I was just giving it back!"Boone said that Shannon is his sister, so the cop wants to know why her name is Rutherford and Boone's is Carlyle. Boone admits that she is his stepsister. His mother married her father. The officer makes it clear that there is nothing he can do.
Boone finds Shannon's boyfriend at a marina. He orders Bryan to break up with Shannon. He wants Bryan to go to the house when Shannon isn't there to pick up his things and Boone will pay him $25,000. Boone says that Bryan will be the third guy he's paid off. "I love her," Bryan says.
Boone says, "How much?"
"My love for her," Bryan says, "is closer to $50,000." Boone writes a check.
Sun Understands
Kate and Sun work in Sun's garden. Kate is talking, even though she thinks Sun can't understand her. Sun smiles at something Kate says. "You understood me," Kate says and Sun ignores her. After Kate badgers her, Sun admits to speaking English, but begs Kate not to tell anyone.Hurley Steps on a Sea Urchin
Hurley tries everything Jin is doing to catch fish, but gets frustrated and throws the net down. On his way out of the ocean he steps on a sea urchin and begins howling in pain.Jin rushes over and Hurley says, "You're going to have to pee on my foot, man!"He motions to Jin, who says, "No!"
Compass
Sayid has Rousseau's maps and is sitting in the jungle with a makeshift compass. Locke comes upon Sayid and gives him his compass.Shannon's Screams
Boone has fallen asleep, still tied to the tree. He hears someone scream and wonders who it is. "Boone?" Shannon calls. He calls for her to come, because he is tied up. She says that she is tied up too. They hear the sound of the unseen force. Despite the pain the ropes cause him, Boone is able to reach the knife and cut himself free.
Boone runs to where he heard Shannon and cuts her loose. The monster is getting closer and the two make a run for it. They hide in a mangrove trunk and hope the monster will go away.
North
In another part of the jungle Sayid runs into Jack and asks him which way north is. Jack points and Sayid says, "Yes, that's where north should be." He shows Jack the compass and says that it is pointing a different direction for north."This compass is obviously defective," Sayid says. Jack asks where he got it and Sayid says, "Locke gave it to me this afternoon." Jack wants to know where Locke is.
What Did Boone Do?
The monster seems to have moved on and Shannon asks Boone what he did to Locke to make him tie them up. Boone insists that he didn't do anything and they decide to go back to camp.
Boone's Flashback - Shannon Set Up Boone
Boone shows up at the house and Shannon seems surprised to see him, saying he wasn't supposed to come until later. Boone tells her to get her stuff and is confused at her hesitation.Bryan walks through the door carrying groceries. "Let's go," Boone tells Shannon, but she doesn't move.
"You still don't get this, do you?" Bryan says.
Boone looks at a guilty Shannon. "You set me up?" Boone says. "This isn't the first time. You've done this before." Bryan explains how Shannon is just getting what she deserves after Boone's mother took the money when Shannon's father died.
