Flashbacks in Italics
An eye is watching Shannon. She's reading a book and Sayid brings her a present. It's a pair of shoes. The eye belongs to Boone as he watches from a distance.
Hurley interrupts Boone's staring by asking him about his boar hunting and wondering why he and Locke haven't brought back any food in over a week.
Boone's Flashback - Shannon In Trouble...Again
Boone is leaving the tennis court with his arm around a blond woman. His cell phone rings and he answers. Shannon is on the other end crying and saying that things are not so good. He acts as if this happens all the time, but gets more concerned when he hears her yelling at someone in the background. He asks her to tell him where she is and he'll come get her. "Sydney," she says and when he doesn't answer adds, "Australia."
Stay Away From My Sister
Boone approaches Sayid on the beach."Stay away from my sister," Boone says."For a moment you seemed to be giving me an order," Sayid says.
"It's just a friendly suggestion."
Locke calls Boone, saying they have work to do.
As Locke and Boone trek through the jungle they speak of Sayid. Locke says not to make an enemy of Sayid, because they will soon need him. Boone brings up the fact that people have been asking about boar, and Locke says that fruit and fish are plentiful and for now they need to concentrate on what is in the ground.
The two stop and uncover a hatch in the ground.
"Right now," Locke says, "this is our priority."
Hurley Needs Protein
In another part of the jungle, Hurley plucks leaves from a plant as Jack strolls by. He tells Jack that he's having "major digestive issues." Jack tells him to eat more protein. Hurley complains about the lack of boar and Jack tells him to ask Jin for fish. Hurley thinks Jin has it in for him because he wouldn't eat Jin's sea food on the first day they were on the island.Hurley leaves and Jack continues through the jungle, coming upon Kate and watching her through the bushes. "I know you're there," she says.
He says he wasn't hiding, he just didn't want to interrupt whatever it was she was doing. She shows him the passion fruit seeds she's collecting and then takes him to a garden where Sun is digging.
"When did you do this?" Jack asks Kate.
"It was all Sun," she says. "I just happened to come upon it when I was collecting fruit."
Jack motions to Sun that she's done a great job.
The talk turns to boar and Kate suggest that perhaps Locke is keeping the boar for himself.
The Hatch
Boone wonders how they will open the hatch and Locke goes into a story of Michelangelo. Boone says, "We're not going to stare at this for four months, are we?"Well, that's what we have to figure out," Locke says. "That's why we're sitting here. I mean, how do you open a hatch that has no handle, no latch, no discernible way of opening it?"
Boone's Flashback - Shannon's Bruise
Boone rings a doorbell and a man answers the door. Shannon strolls into the room and seems surprised to see him. She wants to know what he's doing in Australia and tells him that now is not a good time. She and Bryan were just on their way out. When Bryan looks away, Shannon moves her hair away from her face to show Boone a bruise on her forehead.Shannon suggest that Boone call her tomorrow. "Please," she adds. Boone agrees and leaves, looking very troubled.
