Claire's Flashback - Adoption
Claire is in a lawyer's office. Across the conference table are Mr. and Mrs. Stewart, a nice looking couple. An attorney explains to Claire that once she signs the papers it will be entirely up to the Stewarts whether the baby will have any contact with Claire. Upon her release from the hospital Claire will receive $20,000.Claire asks Mrs. Stewart if she knows the song "Catch a Fallen Star". She does, so Claire asks for a pen.
The attorney passes Claire a pen and asks her to sign, she tries, but the ink is gone. The lawyer gives her another pen, but it too is out of ink. Mrs. Stewart hands Claire another pen, but Claire says she can't do it, and runs out.
Claire goes back to the psychic and asks him his offer.
Not Supposed to Be Here
Charlie races through the jungle towards the caves and sees Ethan. He asks Ethan to get Jack, and Charlie runs back to Claire. "I'm not supposed to be here," Claire says. "Someone told me it would be different.""He was wrong," Charlie replies.
Claire's Flashback - The Plan
The psychic gives Claire $6000 and says she must go to Los Angeles. He says there is a family there who is eager to adopt and he's sure the baby will be safe there. He says there is $6000 in the money he gave her and that she will get an equal amount when she lands in Los Angeles."You've spent the last four months telling me I have to raise the baby myself. Now you're giving me money and saying I don't have to?
Psychic or No?
Claire tells Charlie that she is embarrassed that she listened to the psychic. "And after everything, he was just full of it.""Or not," Charlie says. "All he wanted was that no one else raise your baby, right? Maybe he knew."
Claire's Flashback - Flight 815
The psychic gives Claire an Oceanic ticket. "I can't go tomorrow," she says. "It has to be this flight," he says. "Flight 815."No Couple
"There was no couple in Los Angeles," Claire says to Charlie. "He knew. He knew about the plane."
Claire's contractions seem to have stopped and Charlie asks if she thinks she can make it back to the caves. "I won't let anything happen to you," he adds.
Not Alone
Sayid arrives in the caves, stumbling on his hurt leg. He tells them that he found the French woman and they are not alone on the island.Claire and Charlie hike through the jungle. They stop and Claire lets Charlie feel the baby kick.
Hurley runs into the caves and tells Jack there's a problem. "I interviewed everyone and got their names," he says. "One of them wasn't in the manifest. He wasn't on the plane."
In the jungle, Claire and Charlie make their way along the path to the caves and wonder where Jack is.
"Hello there," says Ethan, interrupting Charlie and Claire. He stares at Claire's stomach. Charlie steps closer to her and puts his arm around her shoulder.
