Flashbacks in Italics
We see an eye and hear a baby crying. The eye belongs to Claire and she sits up, no longer pregnant. She follows the cries into the jungle where she sees Locke sitting at a desk.
"He was your responsibility but you gave him away, Claire," Locke says. "Everyone pays the price now."Locke's eyes look weird, one is black and and one is white.
Claire continues toward the cries and finds a crib with a mobile of four miniature Oceanic planes over it. She reaches down and pulls back the white blanket, but there is nothing there and her hands are covered in blood. She screams and a hand falls on her shoulder.
She wakes up in the caves to see Charlie sitting there looking concerned. He tells her she was dreaming and sleepwalking. He looks at her blood covered hands. "What happened?"
Charlie takes Claire to Jack, who bandages her hands and says she must have had a quite a nightmare. "Who says it was a nightmare?" she asks.
"When somebody makes fists so tight they dig their fingernails a quarter of an inch into their palms," Jack says, "they probably weren't dreaming about riding ponies."
Jack asks her about her prenatal care and she says that the ultrasound showed a healthy baby and her OB-GYN approved her to fly in her third trimester. Jack asks how many weeks in she is.
Claire's Flashback - Pregnant
Claire bolts from the bathroom holding a pregnancy test. A man wonders if maybe she did it wrong."Thomas, I can pee on a stick," Claire says.Thomas considers, then says maybe this could work out for them and they could be parents. "My mom would disown me," Claire says, and Thomas points out that she pretty much already has.
Claire wonders how they would support a baby on her "$5 an hour job at the Fish 'n' Fry."
"You're not the only one with a job, you know? I mean I've got my painting." In the background is a painting.
Sinking Kate
Jack finds Kate with her feet sinking in the sand as the waves come in and out. They speak of Sayid who has been gone for over a week. Jack tells Kate that the baby will be coming soon.Claire's Friend
Charlie brings Claire some tea and asks if she's feeling better. He tells her that if she needs someone to talk to, he would like to be her friend."We don't have to do each other's hair or anything," Charlie says. "I just mean that if you needed someone to talk to about anything, I'm here."
Claire's Flashback - Freaky Psychic
Claire and a friend go to a psychic. Claire feels nervous, but the friend tells her it will be fun. The psychic takes Claire's hands and after a pause asks Claire when she found out about the baby. A stunned Claire looks at her friend, who shrugs. "Two days ago," Claire answers.After another pause the psychic gets scared and drops Claire's hands. He says he can't do her reading. "What a freak," the friend says as they walk out, but Claire is terrified.
Needle to Belly
It's night and those at the caves are sleeping. Someone puts their hand over Claire's mouth and lifts her shirt to reveal her pregnant belly. A needle flashes in the moonlight.Charlie and Jack wake to her screams and rush to her side. Charlie tells Jack that someone attacked her and he and Hurley go off to see if they can find whoever did it. Ethan Rom collects water, and Jack and Michael sit Claire down and try to calm her.
Claire says that she couldn't see who, but someone stabbed her with some kind of needle. Jack and Michael look skeptical.
