'There's No Place Like Home Part 2' Recap

Part 3

Dire

Daniel returns to the beach in the Zodiac. People run over to help him come ashore. "Did you get them all to the boat?" Juliet asks.

"Yeah, everybody is safe."

"Are they coming closer?"

"They fixed the engine and they're going to get as close to the island as they can without hitting a reef. The next trip shouldn't take so long. I'm going to get some water and then I'll be back."

"Okay, I'll get the next group ready to go."

"Thank you."

"Dan, thanks for helping us."

"Absolutely."

Further up the beach, Miles eats from a cannister of Dharma peanuts. Rose walks over. "Uh, who told you you could eat those peanuts?"

Miles looks down at the peanuts then up at Rose. "May I eat these peanuts?"

"I'm going to keep my eye on you, Shorty." Rose walks away.

Daniel walks toward Miles and calls his name, indicating with his head for Miles to follow. "Something wrong with your neck?" Miles says.

"Follow me please." He walks over to Charlotte.

"Dan, what's wrong?" she asks.

"I'm leaving in ten minutes to take the next group of people to the freighter. You need to make sure that you're with me on that raft."

"Well don't worry about me, because I'm going to stay," Miles says.

“Miles, no," Daniel says. "I don’t think I’m getting across the direness of the circumstance."

“Oh no, you’re very dire,” Miles says, “But I’m still going to stay.”

Daniel puts his hand on Charlotte's shoulder and says, "Hey, ten minutes."

"Yep," she says.

Daniel rushes off and Miles says, "I'm surprised you want to leave.”

“Sorry?” Charlotte says.

“It’s just weird, you know, after all that time you spent trying to get back here.”

“What do you mean, get back here?”

“What do I mean?” Miles says, faking confusion.

The Orchid

As Ben and Locke descend in the elevator, Locke says, "How deep is this station?"

"Deep," Ben says.

Ben and Locke reach the bottom and then walk down the hall. Ben turns on lights and starts turning on equipment.

Locke looks around. “Is this the magic box?”

“No John, it’s not,” Ben says and continues moving around the room turning things on.

"What is all this stuff for?"

“The same things that all the Dharma stations are for. Silly experiments,” Ben says.

“What kind of experiments?” Locke asks.

"You know what, John?" Ben pulls a video out of a drawer. "Why don't you watch this very informative video that will answer some of your questions and I'll take care of some business."

Ben opens a vault. Locke sits to watch the Orchid video. Ben continues to place objects into the vault, including chairs, trash cans, and a bunny cage.

As the video plays, Locke sees that it is video six of six. Dr. Marvin Candle as Edgar Halliwax comes on the screen holding a bunny with the number 15 painted on it. Marvin says, "Hello, I'm Dr. Edgar Halliwax and this is the orientation video for station six of the Dharma Initiative. As you've no doubt surmised, station six, or The Orchid is not a botanical station. The unique properties of the island have created a kind of casimir effect allowing the Dharma Initiative to create unique experiments in both space and time."

On the video, Marvin walks to the vault and says, "This is the vault constructed adjacent to a pocket of what we believe to be negatively charged exotic matter. Great care must be taken to avoid leaving inorganic materials inside the chamber. The electromagnetic energy within the island can be highly volatile and unpredictable."

Marvin places the bunny inside the chamber and then steps out. "Now for your own safety and the safety of those around you, metallic objects must never be placed in the vault."

Locke sees that Ben is putting anything he can find that is metal into the vault.

On the video, the vault closes and Marvin says, "In our first demonstration we will attempt to shift the test subject 100 milliseconds ahead in four dimensional space. For a brief moment, the animal will seem to disappear, but in reality-" The tape begins to rewind and Locke tries to stop it, but can't.

Locke says, "Hey, was he talking about what I think he was talking about?"

"If you mean time traveling bunnies, then yes."

"You do know that he said specifically not to put any metal in here."

Ben nods.

They hear a noise and see the elevator door shut and the elevator go up.

"You expecting someone?" Locke says.

"May I have my weapon back?" Ben says.

Seen Enough of This Rock

Hurley and Sawyer get to the helicopter and see Kate trying to get Frank out of the handcuffs.

Hurley yells, "Sayid, Kate!" He hugs Sayid and says, "It's good to see you, dude."

Kate looks relieved and happy to see Sawyer, then concerned when she sees Jack. She starts to walk to him.

Sawyer taps Keamy with his gun and says, "He say something to tick you off, Freckles?"

"I didn't kill that one."

"Well which one did you kill?"

Kate looks at Jack's wound and Sawyer looks upset.

"Where's the baby?" Jack asks.

"He's with Sun. They should be at the freighter by now. You okay?"

"I am now," he says.

Sawyer walks over to Frank, who is trying to pick the lock on his handcuffs. "Hey, Kenny Rogers, what you trying to do there? Pick a lock?"

"You got a better idea?"

Sawyer pulls a saw out of the toolbox. "Hacksaw."

"For the handcuffs, right?"

Sawyer smiles. He starts to saw on the cuffs.

Jack says, "Sayid, how'd you get back?"

"I took the Zodiac from the freighter."

"Is it safe? A body from the boat washed up on the beach."

"It's safe now."

Sawyer gets Frank loose and Frank says, "Let's get the hell out of here."

"Let's go, Freckles," Sawyer says. "I've seen enough of this rock."

Everyone gets in and Hurley says to Jack, "After we drop everyone off at the boat, we can come back and look for Claire, right?"

"Absolutely," Jack says.

Frank says, "Hands and feet inside the vehicle. Let's go for a ride."

They take off and fly over the island and out to the ocean.
