"Who you talking to up there, Genghis?"
Sawyer walks out and sees Kate and Jack. A look of dread comes over his face as Kate looks at the baby and then back up to Sawyer.
“Where’s Claire?” Kate asks.
“We lost her,” Sawyer says.
“You what?” Jack asks.
“She just walked off in the middle of the night. We looked for her for a day, but she was just gone. I was hoping maybe she went back to the beach."
Jack leans over and rests his hands on his knees. “She didn’t,” Jack says.
Aaron cries.
“What are you all doing out here?” Sawyer says. He sees the phone in Jack's hand. “What’s that?”
“Chopper flew over the beach, someone tossed this out. It must have been Sayid,” Jack says.
“Well, you better hope it ain't Sayid,” Sawyer says. “Because if he’s with those animals that blew up half of New Othertown, you do not want to tussle with him."
“What, they tried to kill you?” Kate asks.
“Just like Locke said they would,” Sawyer replies.
“So, what, we’re supposed to just turn around and hide? 'Cause it seems like that didn’t work so well for you,” Jack says.
“I’m sorry, Doc. Maybe this is deja vu,” Sawyer says, "but didn’t you just do the whole run through the jungle with a walkie plan?”
“That helicopter is our only way off this island,” Jack says.
“What’s with you and getting off this island? You’re like a damn broken record,” Sawyer says.
“Stop it." Kate takes Aaron. "You two fighting each other now?” Kate says.
“Look, I put Sayid and Desmond on that chopper. It was my call. It's my responsibility. I’m going after it, whether they are on it or not. You can all head back to the beach.”
Kate steps forward. “Jack, no no no, you can’t-”
“Just take care of the baby, okay?” Jack says.
Jack walks off and Sawyer says to Kate, "That son-of-a-bitch is stubborn." He follows after Jack. "Hold up! You don't get to die alone."
Real Questions, False Answers
Sitting in front of microphones and the press, the Oceanic Six don't look too happy. The woman who was on the plane with them, Ms. Decker, says, "Based on the location of the wreckage, our best estimate of the crash site is here." She points to a map. "From there, the survivors were carried by the ocean's current to here, an uninhabited island in the lesser Sunda island, known as Membata."As you all read in your briefing books, on day 103, a typhoon washed up the remnants of a Indonesian fishing boat, including basic supplies and a survival raft. On day 108, the remaining six survivors, including Ms. Austen's baby, which she gave birth to on the island of Membata, used this raft to journey here, an island called Sumba.
"They then came ashore near a village called Manukangga. This photo was taken by the local fishermen who found them. Once it was discovered who they were, they were transported to Honolulu by the U.S. Coast Guard. As you can imagine, this has been an extraordinarily trying experience. They have, however, agreed to answer a few questions. So, ladies and gentlemen, the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815."
Reporters begin yelling their names. One man stands and says, "Dr. Shephard, can you tell us what it was like when the plane hit the ocean? Uh, how you survived?"
Jack says, "Um, it all happened really fast. I remember the impact." Sun looks at Jack. "I remember the plane filling up with water. A group of us got to the emergency door and, um, got out before it went down."
"And those of you who survived, you swam to the island?"
Jack says, "No. We had cushions. We had some life jackets. We were in the water for over a day before the current took us in. By then there were only eight of us left."
A woman stands. "Over here, please. Considering the ordeal that you've all been through, you look pretty healthy for having been on an island for more than 100 days."
Hurley says, "Was that directed at me, dude?"
Carmen and David look at each other and chuckle.
The reporter says, "Well, actually, Mr. Reyes, you were worth more than 150 million dollars at the time of your," she pauses, "death. How does it feel to know you're going to get all that money back?"
"I don't want it back," he says. "Any of it. That money was bad luck."
A woman stands and speaks in Korean. Someone yells, "Can somebody translate that?"
Sun leans into the microphones. "She asked if my husband was one of the people who died on the island."
Jack looks over at Sun, looking concerned. After a pause, Sun says, "The answer is no. He never made it off the plane."
A man stands and says, "Ms. Austen, what was it like giving birth on the island?"
"Scary," Kate says.
"Your son, uh, Aaron? How old is he now?"
"He's just a little over five weeks."
"So that would have made you about six months pregnant when the U.S. Marshal service apprehended you in Australia for an outstanding murder warrant. Is that correct?"
Ms. Decker says, "Uh, I'm afraid Ms. Austen's legal issue is off the table. Next question."
A woman stands. "Mr Jarrah, given the amazing circumstances surrounding the survival of you six, is it possible there are any other survivors of the crash yet to be discovered?"
"No," Sayid says, "absolutely not."
As they walk out of the press conference, Jack leans down to Kate and says, "You did good."
Ms. Decker stops Sayid and says, "Mr. Jarrah, there's a woman outside. She says she knows you, but she's not on the list of family members. Her name's Noor Abed Jazeem." Sayid looks startled. He goes out and finds Nadia. "Nadia?"
She begins to cry and he hugs and kisses her.
