Flash Forwards in Italics.

A pilot, flying a small plane, says, "We've got a little chop ahead."

His co-pilot rubs a rabbit's foot and the pilot says, "Put that away, man. You're freaking me out."

The co-pilot says, "We need this thing with the cargo we got back there. Bad mojo."

The pilot turns to the woman behind him. "Ms. Decker, want to head back there and let them know we're landing?"

"Sure, of course," she says and takes off her headset. She unbuckles and heads to the cargo area. "We're coming in for a landing. It's a military facility just west of Honolulu." She looks around at those in the cargo area. Jack looks to be dozing. Sun, Hurley, Sayid, and Kate look depressed. Kate is holding Aaron.

Ms. Decker continues, "It's completely private. Your families are already here. Now, there's a lot of press that want to speak to you, but as far as Oceanic is concerned, you don't have to speak to any reporters."

"We'll talk to them," Jack says.

"Is that alright with all of you?" she asks. She looks around, but no one answers.

"It's fine," Jack says, "we all agreed. We just want to get it over with."

"Okay. They're referring to you as the Oceanic Six. That's not the best branding as far as we're concerned, but it's catchy. We'll see you on the ground."

She makes her way back to the cockpit.

"We all know the story," Jack says. "We get any questions that we don't want to answer or that we can't answer, let's just keep our mouths shut. It's okay, they'll think that we're in shock."

"We are in shock, Jack," Sun says.

"Well, then, this should be easy."

The plane lands, but none of them look happy. They unbuckle and when the doors open, there are people waiting for them.

Hurley walks out first and waves. He runs to his mom and hugs her. Sun hugs her mother while her father looks on. Jack hugs his mother. Kate looks around. Hurley grabs Sayid and introduces him to his mother, Carmen, who hugs and kisses Sayid.

Calling the Chopper

"It was Sayid and Desmond in the helicopter, right?" Rose says. "I mean, it had to be. Why else would they have dropped that thingamabob right over us?"

"Then why wouldn't they just land?" Sun asks.

"I don't know," Jack says, holding the sat phone, "but this thing is tracking the chopper. So if they were on it, they want us to know where they're going."

"It's a phone, right?" Sun says. "Can't we just call them?"

Jack looks at Daniel. "Well?"

Daniel nods and Jack hands him the phone. "Don't try anything stupid."

"I understand," Daniel says.

Daniel punches something into the sat phone. On the phone they hear the helicopter and then, "Put her down over there."

"Is that the chopper?" Juliet asks.

“We’re still five clicks from the site,” Frank yells in the chopper.

“I said put her down, Frank!" Keamy says. "Okay, gear up boys, as soon as we hit the ground we deploy to the Orchid. Heads down. Let’s do this."

“Do you know what the Orchid is?” Jack asks.

“No, I didn’t hear Desmond or Sayid either,” Juliet replies.

“Kate, want to take a walk?” Jack asks.

“Absolutely,” Kate says.

“I’ll get the guns, you get some water, okay?” Jack says.

"Okay," she says.

“You can’t possibly be serious. You just had surgery, Jack,” Juliet says.

“I’m fine,” Jack says.

“If you rip your sutures, you’re not going to be fine!”

“I can’t just sit around and wait!”

“Recovery is not sitting around.”

“I have to do this!” Jack says.

“Why?”

“Because I promised those people that I would get them off this island,” Jack says.

“Don’t bleed to death, Jack,” Juliet says and walks off.

“I’ll see you in a couple of hours.” Jack turns away.

Daniel rifles through his pack and pulls out his journal.

“Daniel, what’s wrong?” Charlotte says.

“Charlotte, did you hear what he said? They’re going to the Orchid. They’re using the secondary protocol."

“What are you talking about?” Charlotte asks.

Daniel looks in his journal and sees some writings about the Orchid and a drawing of the Orchid Dharma logo. “We have to get off this island, right now.”

Sawyer's Time to Explain Comes Earlier Than Expected

Jack and Kate move through the jungle following the signal on the phone. "We're catching up," Jack says. "The chopper must have landed."

"Why don't you take a break?" Kate says.

They stop and she notices that he is bleeding at the site of his stitches. She tells him so and he says he's not bleeding. "I'm suppurating. It's discharge. My body is just fighting the infection around my stitches."

Kate takes a drink of water. "You know when most people are lying and they can't look you in the eye?" He nods and she says, "You do the exact opposite."
