Frank gets out. "Survivors of 815."

"You shouldn't have brought them here. What the hell were you thinking?"

Desmond gets out. He's very agitated. "Where am I? Who are you people?" Desmond keeps yelling.

Sayid says that his friend is disoriented.

"I'm not your friend! I don't know you!"

"When did he start doing this?" the man asks.

"He was fine when we took off," Frank says. "When we hit some weather--hey Faraday told me as long as we stayed on the vector-"

Sayid starts to follow Desmond to the side of the freighter, but the man stops him. "What's your name, my friend?"

"Sayid."

"Okay, Sayid. We're going to take your buddy down to the sick bay, okay?"

"I'm going with him."

"Let a doctor look at him first, then you can come down. You've got my word on that."

A second man goes to Desmond and Desmond says, "This is a mistake, okay? I don't know these people."

"I understand," the second man says.

"This is wrong!" Desmond says. "I'm not supposed to be here!" Desmond looks around. He's standing in the rain and the other privates are still doing sit ups.

The sergeant walks over. "Here? Here what? What the hell are you doing on your feet? Are you finished with your crunches because you want to run?"

The men are made to run and one of them pushes Desmond forward and says, "Keep moving, or so help me, I'll kill you myself."

Later the two of them load crates and the other man asks Desmond what is going on with him. Desmond says that if he told him, he'd just think Desmond was crazy.

"I already know you're crazy."

"This morning, when I was in the yard doing crunches, I left."

"What do you mean you left?"

"I was on a boat and then I was back here, right where I started."

"If you're trying to get tossed out of service-"

"Billy, I'm telling you the truth, man."

"Who else was on this boat? Anyone you recognize?"

Desmond thinks for a moment and then says, "Penny. There was a photo. Penny was in the photo." Desmond gets up and walks away.

"Ah, Des, where are you going?" Billy asks, but Desmond doesn't answer.

Desmond goes to a pay phone and takes out change. Another private bumps him, making him drop his change, and says, "Thanks for this morning, Hume."

Desmond reaches down to pick up the change, but it's not there.

"Whoa, watch your step," the second man says.

"I'm not here," Desmond says. "This isn't happening!"

"You are here and this is happening," the first man says. "Look, we're going to take care of you."

"What am I doing here?"

"It's alright. You're going to be okay."

As the two men lead him to their sick bay, Desmond asks who they are.

The first man says, "Well, my name is Keamy and this is Omar. And I'm from Vegas and he's from Florida, but as for where we are-"

"We last ported in Fiji," Omar says. "So at least we know we're still in the Pacific." He opens a door and they put Desmond inside.

Keamy says, "Now you just relax, okay. We're going to go get the doc and he's going to want to ask you some questions and help us sort all this out."

"What do you mean sort it out?" Desmond asks, but the man shuts the door. "I'm not supposed to be here!" Desmond yells as he tries to get out of the room. "Open this door!"

"Hey," someone calls.

Desmond sees a man tied to a bed. "It's happening to you too, isn't it?"

Sayid sees Keamy yelling at Frank. Keamy walks away and Sayid walks up to Frank. "What is happening to Desmond? Your friends know what's wrong with him."

"Well, if they do," Frank says, "they're not sharing it with me."

"Then perhaps you can share how we took off at dusk and landed in the middle of the day."

Frank turns to him and says, "Listen, I don't know what's happening to your buddy, alright, but you've got to trust me when I tell you this, I am trying to help you."

"You want to help me? Give me your phone. Let me call my people."

"You give me that weapon and I'll give you this phone."

Sayid hands over the weapon and Frank turns on the phone and hands it to Sayid. "Be quick. Don't be trying to call Baghdad, these phones can only call each other."

The phone rings on the beach and Jack answers. Sayid tells him that he's on the freighter.

"Are you okay? Where the hell have you been?"

"Something happened during the flight and now Desmond's in their sick bay."

Jack tells him to hold on and then pushes a button on the phone. "Alright, you're on speaker."

"On the helicopter, something happened to Desmond. He doesn't appear to recognize me or know where he is."

Daniel looks pained and Jack looks at him and says, "Side effects?"

"Your friend," Daniel says, "Desmond, has he recently been exposed to high levels of radiation or electromagnetism?"

Jack shakes his head and Daniel says, "Okay, we don't know why, but some people going to and coming from the island can get a little confused."

"So, what, is this amnesia?" Juliet asks.

"No, this is not amnesia," Daniel says.

Find Daniel

George stares as Desmond waves his hand in front of his face and asks if he can hear him.

Eventually, George blinks. He smiles. "I was just on a ferris wheel."

The lights go on and a man in a lab coat shuts the door.

"See, Ray," George says, "I'm not crazy. It's happening to him too, Ray, and it's going to happen to you. It's going to happen to all of us, everyone, once we start heading to that island again."

Ray fills a syringe and then asks Desmond to step aside. Desmond moves and George yells no to Ray. Ray injects George while George is yelling, "Nothing can stop it, Ray!"

George relaxes and goes to sleep. Ray turns to Desmond and says, "And how are you feeling?"

"What the bloody hell is going on?" Desmond yells. "You're not going to stick me with that, brother."

"I don't want to stick you with anything," Ray calmly says. He pulls a pin light from his coat and says, "If it's alright, I just want to check your eyes."

"Why?"

"So I can help you."

Desmond steps toward Ray and Ray says, "What's your name?"

"Desmond."
