"How about some privacy?" Miles says.
"Fifty-five seconds!" Kate says. She looks down the hallway, but no one is coming.
"You know who I am?" Miles asks Ben.
"Yes," Ben says.
"You know who I work for?"
"Yes."
"Then you know he's put a lot of time and energy into finding you. So now I found you and I can tell him exactly where you are. Or, I can lie and tell him you're already dead. I'd be willing to do that for 3.2 million dollars."
"You've arranged this meeting so you could blackmail me?"
"It's extortion if you want to get technical."
"Three point two, why not 3.3 or 3.4? What makes you think I have access to that kind of money?"
"Do not treat me like I'm one of them!" He points to Kate. "Like I don't know who you are and what you can do."
"Your friend, Charlotte, has seen me. She knows I'm alive."
"I'll take care of Charlotte. You just worry about getting me the money. You have two days."
"My present situation is a little bit restricted. Can that be amended?"
"Okay, one week, in cash."
Kate says that time is up and pulls him out of the room. She closes the door and then pushes Miles up against the wall.
"Oh, this is hot," Miles says.
"You got your meeting, now I want my answer."
"We got your name when you called the freighter. Of course we know about you and everybody else on the 815 manifest."
"Then prove it."
"Your name is Katherine Anne Austen. You're wanted for murder, fraud, arson, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. You're a fugitive. You were caught in Australia and the feds were bringing you back. So yeah, we know. If I were you, I'd stay right here on the island. Who knows, maybe you didn't survive the crash."
Kate starts to lead him up the stairs and Locke walks in, pointing a gun and flashlight at them. Sawyer is right behind him. "Go back to your house, Kate," Locke says.
"John, this has nothing to do with you," she says.
"Go back to your house, Kate!"
She looks at Sawyer and he shakes his head. She looks at Miles and then walks out.
A little later, Kate sits in a house listening to Patsy Cline. Claire walks into the room and says, "Hey, you okay?"
"I couldn't sleep."
"Yeah, the beds take a little getting used to."
"I didn't wake Aaron, did I?"
"No. Aaron was born on this island, he can sleep through anything."
Locke comes through the door and Claire says, "John, what are you doing?"
"I'd like a moment alone with Kate. Would you excuse us please, Claire?"
Kate says it's okay and Claire goes down the hall.
Kate says, "John, I-"
"I don't need to know why you did what you did, Kate, I just need to know what they said to each other."
"Miles told Ben that he would lie to the people on the boat, tell them that Ben was dead for 3.2 million dollars. Listen, John, I'm sorry. I asked you where he was."
"You're not welcome here anymore. I want you gone by morning."
Kate's Flash Forward - Mommy
Kate waits in a room off the courtroom. Her attorney wheels in her mother, who looks ill, but looks much better than she had in the hospital."I'll give you two some privacy," Duncan says.
"I don't need any privacy," Kate says.
"Talk to her, Kate. I'll be outside."
"Hello, Katherine," Diane says. "Is it true what he said, that you're a hero?" She wheels herself closer to Kate. "Why won't you talk to me?"
"Because, Mom, the last time I tried to talk to you, when you got sick, when I risked my life to see you, you screamed for help and called the police."
"Please," Diane says, "I don't want to fight with you, Katherine."
"Why are you here?"
"'Cause, it all changed when I thought you were dead." A tear rolls down her cheek. "The doctors have given me six months to live for the last four years. I don't know how much longer I have. I came here to tell you that I don't want to testify against you."
Kate leans down and says, "Then don't."
"I want to see my grandson."
"You came here to make a deal?"
"I just want to meet him."
"I don't want you anywhere near him!"
Comfort From Sawyer
Kate walks in to Sawyer's bedroom. "Oh, hey Freckles," he says. "You okay?"She sits on the bed and Sawyer says, "Look, I'm sorry I couldn't say nothing. I wanted him to think you fooled me too. No sense in him not trusting both of us."
"He wants me gone by tomorrow."
"What, he banished you? Well I unbanish you." He takes off her shoes. "This is my house." They hear a noise and he says, "Okay, me and Montezuma's house. You're going to be alright. I'll keep you safe." They kiss.
Dan and Charlotte
Daniel and Charlotte sit on the beach. Between them there are three Dharma cards, face down. Charlotte checks her watch and says, "Time. Okay, tell me, what do you remember?""Uh, queen of diamonds, then six of clubs, sorry, and then red ten of hearts, maybe?"
Charlotte flips over the cards, the queen of diamonds, six of clubs, and three of spades. "It's two out of three," Charlotte says. "It's a lot better. It's progress."
"Three cards, Charlotte, is that progress?"
Jack and Juliet walk over. Jack says, "Hey, I've been calling your boat all day. Why isn't anyone answering?"
"We're here," Charlotte says, "how should we know?"
"Are you telling me there is only one line on that boat?"
Charlotte looks at Daniel and says, "There is another number that we're only supposed to use in emergencies."
Juliet takes the phone from Jack. "It's an emergency."
Charlotte takes the phone. "Put her on speaker," Jack says.
Charlotte dials. "Yeah?" Regina says.
"Regina, it's Charlotte."
"Why are you calling me on this number?"
"Minkowski wasn't answering. The people on the island want to talk to their friends and make sure they're all right."
"What friends?"
"They left last night. Frank took them up in the helicopter."
"What do you mean they came up? I thought the helicopter was with you."
