In Ben's house, Locke opens the refrigerator and pulls out two eggs. He fries them and puts them on a plate with some cantaloupe. He carries a tray down a hallway. Locke unlocks the door and brings the tray of food and a book to Ben. "These are the last two eggs."
Ben picks up the book. "From my own bookshelf."
"Help you pass the time."
"I've already read it." He throws the book aside and starts eating.
"You might catch something you missed the second time around."
"Why did you move me from the rec room down here?"
"I wanted you under my own roof."
"Where you keeping your prisoner? Miles, is it?"
Locke shrugs and Ben says, "Oh, you don't want to share."
"Actually, I was hoping you would share, Ben, seeing as you claim to have a spy on his ship."
"I feel for you, John, I really do. You keep hitting dead ends. You couldn't find the cabin, you can't make contact with Jacob, you're so desperate to figure out what to do next you're even asking me for help. So, here we are, just like old times. Except I'm locked in a different room, and you're more lost than you ever were."
Locke smiles. "I know what you're trying to do. It's not going to work."
"Excellent, John, you're evolving."
"Done with your breakfast?" Locke says and takes the tray. He walks out and locks the door, then throws the tray up against the wall. He walks out of the house and slams the door. Kate and Claire watch from afar where they sit on a porch.
"What was that all about?"
"Who knows?" Claire says. She has Aaron on her lap. "It's Locke."
Sawyer walks over. "Good morning, ladies."
"Good morning," Claire says.
"Morning," Kate says.
"Mmmm, coffee smells good," he says.
"Well, why don't I go make you a cup?" Claire and Aaron go into the house.
Sawyer sits on a step. "Kinda weird, ain't it? Sitting on porches, drinking coffee out of mugs. Anyway, I found some clothes about your size. I put them in the closet. So, after I kick out Hugo-"
"I'm not moving in with you, James."
"Well, then why did you stay?"
"That's none of your business."
"Oh, you've got a secret agenda. Well, if you're spying for Jack-"
"I'm not spying for anyone."
"So why don't you tell me?"
"Because I don't trust you," she says.
"This is about the pregnancy thing," he says.
"James, go home."
"Okay, fine." He gets up. "See you later, then."
Kate's Flash Forward - The People vs. Katherine Anne Austen
Kate's attorney drives her to the courtroom. "You ready?" he asks."Is there a back entrance?"
"Yeah, but you're going in the front door with your head held high, okay?"
"Yeah. Okay. Let's do this." Kate puts on sunglasses and gets out of the car. She is immediately surrounded by crowds of people taking pictures of her.
Kate's attorney says, "Folks, we're not making any statements or answering any questions right now."
Seated in the courtroom, Kate listens to the bailiff say, "The people vs. Katherine Anne Austen."
The judge says, "The bailiff will read the council. The defendant, please rise."
The bailiff reads, "Katherine Anne Austen, you are charged with fraud, arson, assault on a federal officer, assault with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, grand theft auto, and murder in the 1st degree. Ms. Austen, how do you plead?"
"Not guilty."
People in the courtroom seem surprised by her plea. The judge says, "Thus entered. I will now hear argument on bail."
The prosecuting attorney stands up and says, "Your Honor, we are recommending that the defendant be held in custody for the duration of the trial."
Kate looks panicked. Her attorney says, "Your Honor, my client has been free pending arraignment. Now suddenly she's a flight risk?"
The prosecutor says, "She's the very definition of a flight risk."
"She has one of the most recognizable faces in America. Where's she going to run?"
"Ms. Austen," the judge says, "based on your prior history, I'm inclined to agree with the people. You are hereby remanded into federal custody for the duration of your trial."
"Your Honor," her attorney says.
"Bailiff, please take the defendant into custody."
"I'm sorry," her attorney says and the bailiff puts handcuffs on Kate.
Albuquerque
Jin points to Albuquerque on a map and says, "Albuquerque?"Sun says, "Too hot."
"New York?"
"Too many people."
In Korean he says, "More than Seoul?"
She answers in Korean, "What's wrong with Seoul?"
"Sun, we're going to leave this island any moment now." In English he says, "I learn English for you. To live in America."
She smiles, then says in Korean, "I want to raise my baby at home. In Korea."
"You mean our baby," Jin says.
Their attention is drawn to Jack's return. Jack, Juliet, Charlotte, and Daniel walk into camp. Jack introduces them to Charlotte and Dan. "Their helicopter already took Sayid and Desmond back to their freighter. They can make arrangements to get all of us off this island."
"Where's Kate?" Sun asks.
"She stayed with Locke," Jack says.
