Define 'Care'
As Sayid walks, he looks at Naomi's bracelet. He says to Miles, "Naomi, were you close to her?""Nope. Met her on the boat."
"You don't seem particularly affected by her death."
"Sure I'm affected, she was hot and I dug her accent."
"Nice," Kate says.
"And this woman, Charlotte. You don't really care about her do you?"
"Define 'care'."
"So much for camaraderie."
"Yeah, gee, whose the one going after one of their crash buddies with guns? Actually, I do care about Locke. Maybe you can tell me how you managed to split your happy little family in half."
Sayid looks at Kate and then says, "There was a fundamental debate as to whether your people were coming to rescue us or kill us."
"And which side did you land on?"
"I'll let you know when I decide," Sayid says.
Sayid's Flash Forward - The Fifth Date
Elsa opens the door and Sayid is wearing a tux. She tells him that he looks fantastic. "This is why I wanted to take you to the opera."They kiss and then Sayid says, "If a man can't wear his tuxedo by the fifth date, why bother?"
She picks up a necklace and he puts it on her. She picks up her pocket book and pager and then says, "I'm not bringing it. If tonight is the night he calls, so be it." She puts it down.
Sayid picks it up and says, "I'll carry it. If he does call, I don't want you fired over me. You should tell your employer that there is some new technology."
"Well, I've tried. He's very old fashioned." She puts on her coat. "You know how bosses can be. Do you have a boss?"
"Everyone has a boss, Elsa."
"Why are you still here?" she asks. "I mean, when we met you said that you'd only be in Berlin for one week."
"The job I'm on is proving harder to accomplish than I thought."
She chuckles and says, "I was hoping it was because of me."
Far More Than Weird
Daniel goes to the helicopter and gets out a metal case and a tripod. He sets up the tripod and opens the case. He puts a gizmo together on top of the tripod.Jack asks Frank about Daniel, "What's his story?"
"Daniel? Eh, couldn't tell you. Half the stuff he says goes over my head. The other half goes way, way over."
"Hey, uh, Frank," Daniel says, "can, uh, oh, sorry to interrupt, may I please use the phone just for a second?"
"For what?"
"I just want to call Regina on the boat 'cause I figure since we're waiting maybe I can just, you know try to-"
"What is it, Daniel?"
"I'd just like to do an experiment."
"Okay," Frank says and hands him the phone. "You just keep it to that science stuff, okay?"
"Yeah."
"If Minkowski gets on there, you hang up right away."
Daniel calls and Regina answers. He puts the phone down on the ground and asks if she can hear him. She says yes and he pushes some buttons on his gizmo and says that he's all set. "Are you locked in?"
"Getting your signal pretty clear."
"Okay, fire payload," he says and looks to the sky.
"Firing payload," she says.
Frank tells Jack, "Don't sweat it, he does this kind of stuff on the boat all the time."
Daniel looks at the sky. Regina says, "Forty kilometers to beacon." Then she counts down by five until she gets to zero.
Daniel says, "Regina, I don't have it."
"That's weird."
"That is far more than weird."
They Left Me
From the jungle, Kate, Miles, and Sayid look at the Barracks. Miles says, "What's with the swing set? These people have day care?""Do you think they're here yet?" Kate says.
"Let's find out," Sayid says.
Guns drawn, they go in and look around. They hear something and go into the house where it's coming from. They open a closet to find Hurley, gagged.
They take off the gag. "Hurley, what happened?" Kate asks.
"They left me."
Hurley sits on the couch and says, "Locke's gone off the reservation, man. I mean, he took this one chick hostage, he said Walt was the one who told him to kill the other chick, and-"
"Walt?" Sayid says.
"Dude, don't ask. I was, like, just trying to argue with him, so he would just like, you know, chill, but, uh-"
Miles says, "How 'bout you stop babbling and just tell us what happened to them. Where are they?"
"Who are you?" Hurley asks.
"Where the hell did they go, Tubby?"
"Oh, awesome, the ship sent us another Sawyer," Hurley says.
"Hurley," Sayid says, "where did they go?"
"Look, I guess they were too busy tying me up to tell me. I don't know"
"And so they all left, all together?" Kate says.
"Yeah, they were freaked. Locke said that the people on the ship were here to rescue Charlotte and then to kill us. So," Hurley looks at Miles, "are you?"
"Not yet," Miles says.
Sayid says, "Did they say anything that suggested where they are going next?"
Kate brings Hurley a drink.
"Uh, Locke said they were going to go by Ben's house before they took off."
"Why would they go there?"
Hurley shrugs. "For all I know they could have locked Ben up in a closet too."
"Where's Ben's house?" Miles asks.
Thirty-One Minutes
Jack says to Frank, "Mind if I ask you a question?""Shoot."
"The Red Sox really win the Series?"
"Hey, don't get me started on that. My dad's from the Broncs. I bleed Yankee blue."
"I can't believe it's been a hundred days since I've seen a game."
Daniel hears something and looks up. He gets really excited. "It's finally here," he says and goes to what landed nearby. He opens it.
"What is that?" Jack asks.
"It's a rocket."
Daniel takes out a digital clock. He checks it against his watch and then says, "Oh no." He gets up and goes to his gizmo on the tripod. He picks up a digital clock from the gizmo that reads 02:45:03. He compares it with the clock from the rocket that says 03:16:22. "Thirty-one minutes! Oh no. This is not good."
"Your friends are back," Frank says, and Juliet and Desmond walk over.
"Wow, look at that," Desmond says about the helicopter.
