Flash forwards in Italics

Sayid kneels on the ground, praying. He opens his eyes and sees Naomi laying dead on the stretcher.

Jack and Juliet walk by and Jack says, "Did Ben ever mention knowing anyone off the island?"

She shakes her head and she says, "You're sure of that?"

Miles follows after them. "Look, this is real simple. Do you know where he is or don't you?"

"What do you want with him?" Jack asks.

"I want to locate him. The people who hired me told me his name's Benjamin Linus. They gave me this picture, and that's all they told me. They said find him. And for what they're paying me, I don't need to know anything else. Do you?"

Sayid goes over to Naomi, closes her eyes, and puts the blanket over her face.

"You want Ben," Jack says, "okay, he's with Locke and your friend."

"Charlotte."

"Charlotte. Locke's got her too, but we know where he's heading."

"Locke's the guy that killed Naomi," Miles says. "Give me back my gun, Shephard."

Sayid notices a bracelet on Naomi's wrist and takes it off. It's inscribed with 'N, I'll always be with you. R.G.'

"You want your gun back," Jack says, "I want answers."

"You don't trust me, I don't trust you. In fact, you're supposed to be dead. But am I asking a billion questions? No. We both have the same problem, this Locke guy."

Kate says, "Even if Locke has your friend, you can't just waltz in there and grab her. They're armed."

"Well how about that? So are we!" Miles says. "So why don't we move out and-"

"You're not going anywhere," Sayid says. He asks Frank, "Will that helicopter fly?"

"That's what she does," Frank says.

"Then you can take me to your ship."

"Sayid," Jack says, "wait a second."

"We did call these people to get us off this island, didn't we?" Sayid says. He looks at Frank. "Well?"

Frank says, "I burned a lot of fuel coming in. I can't carry much weight. I'll take three of you."

Miles says, "In case you zoned out while you were tweezing your goatee, one of these yahoos took Charlotte prisoner."

Sayid says, "I can bring her back, safely. And if I do, will you take me to the ship?"

"You bring Charlotte back safe," Frank says, "and I will take you off this island."

Sayid's Flash Forward - Golf

Sayid plays golf on a nice golf course. No one else is around until a man drives over in a golf cart. "Good morning," the man says.

"Good morning," Sayid says.

"It's a long walk to the next hole. You need a ride?"

"Thank you, but no," Sayid says, "my ball is right here."

"You know, you're the first person I've seen out here all morning."

"I believe we're paying quite a premium for that kind of privacy," Sayid says.

"Indeed we are," the man says and gets out of the cart.

Sayid pulls a club out of his bag and the man says, "Uh uh, I'd use the five iron."

"I think I'll stick with the seven."

"Tell you what, fifty Euro says mine goes closer to the pin within five."

Sayid looks at the pin. "Let's make it 100."

"Excellente!" He grabs a club. "Amazing, huh? How we wager? It makes just about anything more fun."

Sayid swings.

"Not bad, not bad," the man says. He sets up for his swing. "So, what do you do for a living, my friend?"

"I do nothing."

"Nothing. Doesn't pay for your vacation here."

"I was the recipient of a large settlement."

"Corporate merger?"

"Actually, a plane crash."

The man looks a little worried and Sayid says, "Oceanic Airlines Flight 815. I'm Sayid Jarrah, one of the Oceanic Six."

The man looks very worried. "Ah, that's amazing. I remember reading all about it."

"Take your shot, my friend."

The man swings.

"It appears you were right about the five iron," Sayid says.

"Well, enjoy your round and don't worry about the wager. All in good fun."

"No, you won," Sayid says. "Allow me to pay you."

The man walks to the cart. "It's fine, thank you."

"I insist, Mr. Avaleen."

Mr. Avaleen slowly turns around and Sayid shoots him, then grabs his bag and walks off.

Later, Sayid goes into a crowded cafe in Germany. In German he asks a woman if the empty seat at her table is taken. She says no and he sits and looks at a map.

She asks where he would like to go and in English he says, "'Is it free' was the full extent of my German."

She laughs and in English says, "What are you looking for?"

"I love Europe. Everyone speaks English." He tells her what he's looking for.

"Well you don't need a map," she says. "It's one block down, right across the street."

"Thank you."

"I'm Elsa."

"Sayid."

A waiter comes and takes Sayid's order.

"And what sort of business brings you to Berlin?" Elsa asks.

"I'm a head hunter, a corporate recruiter. And what do you do?"

"My employer is an economist. He works in emerging markets. Actually, I don't really understand what he does, which doesn't matter since all I do is shop for him. And if this goes off," she holds up a pager, "I'm at his side instantly, which is wonderful since he's only in Berlin once or twice a year."

"Which is why you are enjoying a luxuriantly long midday coffee."

"Yes." She looks at him a moment and then says, "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"I'll tell you exactly where you know me from, if you let me take you to dinner."

She circles a restaurant on the map and tells him to meet her at eight o'clock if he can find it.

As he walks away, he calls someone and says, "I made contact." He drops the cell phone in the trash and uses snow to wash off his hand.
