Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End
Jack realizes that Naomi has snuck away and decides to go with Rousseau to follow the trail she'd found rather than the one Kate found, despite Kate warning that it could be a dummy trail and they should follow both.Turns out, it is a dummy trail and Jack has to double back. He realizes he doesn't have the satellite phone and Ben says that Kate took it from him when she hugged him.
When Hurley and Locke meet up with Jack's group, Jack attacks Locke, punching him. Locke falls to the ground and Jack takes his gun. Locke says Jack won't shoot him and Jack pulls the trigger, but the gun is not loaded.
Locke and Hurley try to convince everyone to go hide from the freighter people in the Barracks, but Jack wants them to continue to try and get rescued. Kate and a few others stay with him, while the rest go with Locke.
Jack and Kate run to where a man parachuted from a helicopter and the man takes off his helmet and says, "Are you Jack?"
Episode 4x2, Confirmed Dead
When Daniel says that he doesn't have a phone, Jack gives him Naomi's phone. Daniel calls the freighter and then walks off when George asks if he's on speaker phone. Jack is concerned, but Kate says that Naomi covered for them. Jack wonders why Daniel has a gun. When he asks, Daniel just say it's a precaution. Jack wonders why the helicopter had a box with gas masks in it. They follow the signal on the phone to find another member of Daniel's team. It's Miles, who has a gun on Jack and wants to be taken to Naomi's body. They take him to the body, where Juliet and Sayid catch up to them and the Losties get control of the guns. They find the pilot and the helicopter.Episode 4x3, The Economist
Sayid tells Jack that he can't go with them to get Charlotte because of what happened the last time Jack had encountered Locke (trying to shoot him). Jack tells Kate that she should go because Jack doesn't trust Locke and he knows that Sawyer will protect her.When Kate doesn't return with Sayid, Jack decides not to go on the helicopter.
Episode 4x4, Eggtown
Jack tries calling the freighter all day before he goes to Charlotte. Charlotte calls on the emergency line and they learn that the helicopter never made it to the freighter.Episode 4x5, The Constant
Jack wants to know why it is taking the helicopter so long to reach the freighter and Daniel tells him that his perception of how long it's taking may not be how long it is actually taking.Episode 4x6, The Other Woman
Jack realizes that Charlotte and Daniel are missing and he and Juliet track them. Juliet finds out that they are going to the Tempest Station and they try to catch up. They find Kate, who had been knocked out by Charlotte and as Jack tends to her, Juliet sneaks off.Jack and Kate catch up to everyone at the Tempest and Juliet says that Charlotte and Daniel are on their side. Juliet and Jack have a private conversation. Juliet says that Ben is going to win the war and then Jack shouldn't be anywhere around her, because Ben thinks Juliet is his. Jack says he's not going anywhere and they kiss.
Episode 4x9, The Shape of Things to Come
Jack is not feeling well and takes some antibiotics. He tells Kate it's for a stomach bug.A body washes up on shore and Jack realizes that Daniel and Charlotte know who it is. Daniel says he was their doctor on the freighter.
Jack seems really suspicious of Daniel and when Daniel translates some Morse code from the freighter, Jack looks to Bernard to confirm. Bernard says that Daniel is lying, that the code said the doctor was fine.
Episode 4x10, Something Nice Back Home
Jack becomes ill and Juliet diagnoses appendicitis. Juliet instructs Sun what to get from the medical station. Jack says he wants to watch the surgery and wants Kate to hold the mirror.During the surgery Juliet wants Bernard to knock Jack out with Chloroform, but Jack doesn't want him to. He does anyway.
After the surgery, Jack hears Juliet telling Kate about how he kissed Juliet. Juliet thinks it was to prove that he didn't love someone else.
After Kate walks out, Juliet tells Jack that she knows he's awake.
Episode 4x11, Cabin Fever
Juliet gets mad at Jack for leaving his tent, but he says he was hungry. A helicopter flies over them and something drops. Jack goes to the bag and pulls out a sat phone. He says that he thinks they are supposed to follow the helicopter.Episode 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1
Jack thinks that whoever dropped the sat phone out of the helicopter wants them to find the helicopter. Against Juliet's wishes, because of his recent surgery, Jack takes Kate and follows the signal in search of the helicopter.They come upon Sawyer and Aaron and find out that Claire has been lost. Kate takes the baby back to the beach and Sawyer continues with Jack.
They find Frank handcuffed to the helicopter and learn that they need to leave the island immediately. Sawyer says that Hurley is with Ben, so Jack and Sawyer go after him.
Episode 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2
Jack goes with Sawyer to get Hurley from the Orchid. Locke says he wants to talk to Jack alone and tells him that he can't leave because he's not supposed to.Jack gets angry. Locke tells him that if he has to leave, then he has to lie about the island to protect it.
Jack, Hurley, and Sawyer go to the helicopter and they leave the island, but almost don't make it to the freighter because of a fuel leak. They land on the freighter just long enough to patch the holes with tape and put a little fuel in it. Then they take off, leaving Jin behind.
They see the freighter explode and Sun screams for Jin. Jack tells her that he's gone.
They see a bright light and when it goes away, the island is gone. They run out of fuel and crash into the ocean.
They all make it to the life raft and when they see a boat, Jack tells them that they'll have to lie.
They get on Penny's boat and a week later onto another life boat where they row to an island village and lie about their story.
