Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End

Happy that they are about to be rescued, Hurley does a cannonball into the ocean. When he surfaces, he sees that Desmond has returned from The Looking Glass Station without Charlie. He asks where Charlie is, but Desmond is too worried about warning Jack that the freighter is not Penny's boat to answer him, until Hurley yells. Desmond says he is sorry.

Sawyer wants to call Jack on the walkie-talkie to tell him about the freighter people, but Sayid points out that they are probably monitoring communications and warning Jack would only tip off the freighter that they were suspicious. Sawyer starts to call on the walkie and Hurley grabs it and throws in into the ocean.

That night, as they are hiking through the jungle toward Jack, Sawyer tries to console Hurley over Charlie's death, but Hurley wants to be left alone. Hurley gets separated from the group and ends up at Jacob's cabin, where he sees someone sitting in a chair and someone else peers out at him. He runs away screaming and Locke finds him.

Together, Locke and Hurley go and tell Jack's group about the freighter, but people are split between going with Locke to the Barracks or staying with Jack and waiting for rescue. Hurley doesn't want Charlie to die for nothing and says he's going with Locke.

Episode 4x2, Confirmed Dead

Hurley thinks the cabin is in a different direction than where Locke is going. When Locke figures out Hurley knows about the cabin, Hurley plays it off that he was looking for the airplane cabin.

Episode 4x3, The Economist

Hurley argues with Locke. Hurley wants to let Charlotte go, but Locke says that he is making the decisions.

Kate and Sayid find Hurley gagged in a closet. Hurley says that they left him, but it's really a plan to get them into Ben's house so that Locke can capture them.

Episode 4x4, Eggtown

Hurley is living with Sawyer in one of the houses at the Barracks. Kate tricks him into telling her where Miles is being held.

Episode 4x8, Meet Kevin Johnson

When Miles says that the freighter people are there for Ben, Hurley says that they've known that.

Episode 4x9, The Shape of Things to Come

Hurley holds Aaron while he plays a board game with Locke and Sawyer. After the phone rings and Locke takes the message to Ben, they barricade themselves into Ben's house. Sawyer goes to Claire's house and gets her, but when they get back to Ben's, Ben won't let them in. Hurley breaks a window so that Sawyer and Claire can get into Ben's house.

After the smoke monster attacks Keamy's men, Sawyer says he's taking everyone to the beach, instead of going to Jacob's cabin with Locke and Ben. Locke says that Hurley needs to stay with him to find Jacob's cabin.

Sawyer defends Hurley, but Hurley tells them both to put their guns down and that he will go with Locke and Ben.

Episode 4x11, Cabin Fever

Hurley travels with Ben and Locke to Jacob's cabin, but realizes that no one knows where they are going. The next morning, Locke wakes up with a plan and they go to the Dharma grave. While Locke searches through the grave, Hurley makes small talk with Ben and learns that he's standing in the exact spot where Ben was standing when Ben shot Locke. Hurley takes a step back.

When they reach the cabin, Hurley opts to stay outside with Ben. When Locke comes out he says that Jacob wants them to move the island.

Episode 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1

Hurley travels with Locke and Ben to the Orchid Station. He watches as Ben gives Locke instructions and then gives himself up to Keamy so that Locke can carry out the instructions.

Episode 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2

Hurley is happy that Sawyer came to the Orchid to get him. The two of them and Jack go to the chopper and leave the island with Sawyer, Sayid, and Frank. Hurley asks Jack if after they drop people at the freighter they can come back to look for Claire, and Jack says yes.

On the way to the freighter, they discover they have a fuel leak and barely make it to the freighter. Then they get gas and go just before the freighter explodes.

They see a bright light and then the island disappears. There is nowhere to land and they run out of fuel and crash into the water. They all make it into a life raft. Jack tells them they must lie about what happened to them since the crash.

They are found by Penny's boat and then they go 3000 miles by boat so that they can lie about where they were.
