Episode 4x1, The Beginning of the End
While Rousseau holds Ben captive at the radio tower, he tells her to do him a favor and take Alex far away from there because they are all going to die. When he calls Alex his daughter, Rousseau elbows him in the face.Ben sees Kate take the satellite phone from Jack, but doesn't tell Jack until after they follow the wrong trail when looking for Naomi.
When the groups splits between Locke and Jack, Ben asks if he can go with Locke's group and Jack lets him.
Episode 4x2, Confirmed Dead
Ben is Locke's prisoner who baits Karl and then Sawyer. Ben steals Charlotte's gun and shoots her, but she's saved by her bulletproof vest. When Locke is about to shoot him, Ben reveals that Charlotte and her team are there to find him and knows all this because he has a man on their boat.Episode 4x3, The Economist
Ben is locked in the game room with Sayid. He won't reveal who his man on the boat is and tells Sayid that it's no use having friends you can't trust.Episode 4x4, Eggtown
Ben is locked in the basement of his own house, while Locke lives upstairs. Locke tries to get information from Ben, but Ben doesn't give him any.Kate brings Miles to see Ben. Miles will say that Ben is dead if Ben gets him 3.2 million dollars. Ben says he will.
Episode 4x6, The Other Woman
Ben talks Locke into letting him go up to the living room where he instructs Locke to open a safe and watch the video tape that is inside. Ben tells Locke that the man on the video is Charles Widmore and it's his boat that is offshore. The video shows Charles beating one of Ben's men. Ben says that Charles wants to exploit the island.Episode 4x7, Ji Yeon
Captain Gault tells Desmond and Sayid that Ben had the resources to fake the 815 wreckage. Captain Gault was hired by Charles Widmore to find Ben.Episode 4x8, Meet Kevin Johnson
Michael remembers how Ben had talked to him on the freighter and asked for a list.On the island, Ben is in his house with a group of people. Locke brings Miles in and says he won't keep any more secrets. Miles says that the freighter people are there for Ben. Sawyer says they should just hand Ben over, but Ben says that once they have him, they will kill everyone on the island.
As everyone leaves, Ben tells Alex to go to the temple, because if the freighter people find out that she's his daughter, they will use her to get to him. Alex, Rousseau, and Karl leave for the temple.
Episode 4x9, The Shape of Things to Come
While he is playing the piano, Locke and Sawyer come in to tell Ben that the phone rang and the message was 14J. Ben says, "They're here," and that they have to hunker down in the other house because it will be easier to fortify.They go to Ben's house and Sawyer goes to get Claire at her house. Ben stops Locke from going too, saying, "It's very important that you survive what's about to happen here, John. So I need you to stay close to me."
Locke and Ben go into Ben's house and barricade the door. Hurley has Aaron, and Locke tells him to stay away from the window.
After Sawyer finds Claire, Ben doesn't want to let them in, but Hurley breaks a window so they can get in.
Miles comes in and tells Ben to talk on the walkie, but Ben says no. Miles says they have his daughter, so Ben talks to Keamy on the walkie while looking out the window at Keamy. Ben knows that Keamy was in the Marine Corp for 4 years and then worked for a mercenary in Yuganda.
Keamy has Alex and says he will kill her if Ben doesn't come out. Ben says that she's not his daughter and she's just a pawn and to go ahead and kill her.
Keamy shoots Alex and Ben is devastated.
Ben goes into his hidden room. When he comes out he tells everyone to run to the tree line on his order. The room begins to shake and they look outside to the see the smoke monster. Ben tells everyone to go outside and the monster attacks Keamy's people.
Ben tells Locke that he'll meet him at the creek line after he says goodbye to his daughter. When Ben meets up with them, Sawyer says that he is taking everyone back to the beach, but Locke says that Hurley needs to stay with him and Ben to find Jacob's cabin. Hurley agrees to go with Locke and Ben and they head out toward the cabin.
Episode 4x11, Cabin Fever
Ben travels with Hurley and Locke to find Jacob's cabin. Locke asks him how much longer and Ben says he's following Hurley.The next morning, Locke has a plan and Ben seems concerned. Ben watches as Locke digs through the Dharma skeletons until he finds Horace and pulls a map to the cabin out of his pocket.
When they get to Jacob's cabin, Ben says he's not going in. The island wanted Ben to get sick and wanted Locke to get better, so Ben wants Locke to go in without him.
When Locke comes out, Ben wants to know what he learned and Locke says they have to move the island.
Episode 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1
Ben leads Locke and Hurley to the Orchid Station. Along the way, he stops to signal with a mirror. A signal comes back and he says it's okay to go on, but he won't tell Locke what the signal meant.At the Orchid, Ben sees that Keamy's men are already there. He tells Locke how to get inside the Orchid and then gives himself up to Keamy.
Episode 4x13, There's No Place Like Home Part 2
Captured by Keamy, Ben goes with Keamy to the helicopter. Kate and Sayid help Richard free Ben and Ben goes to the Orchid. He and Locke go inside and Ben fills the vault with metallic objects.Keamy comes into the Orchid and Ben kills him, despite Keamy saying that if his heart stops beating the freighter will explode.
Ben tells Locke that Ben will face the consequences of moving the island, which means he'll never be able to go back to the island and Locke will be the new leader of the Others.
Ben goes through a hole in the vault created by having the metal objects in there and turning it on. He goes through a tunnel and down to a cold room where everything is covered in ice. Ben turns a big wheel and the island disappears.
