Episode 3x1, A Tale of Two Cities
Sawyer wakes to find himself in a cage. He sees a teen aged boy in the cage across from his, but the boy won't talk. Sawyer pushes a button with a picture of a knife and fork on it and a recorded voice says, "Warning." He pushes it again and gets the same message. As he goes to push it again, the boy says, "I wouldn't do that." Sawyer pushes it again and gets a shock that throws him across the cage.The boy escapes and lets Sawyer out, but they are both quickly caught.
Sawyer uses a rock and his shoe to rig the levers so that he can push them all at the same time and get food. A fish biscuit drops out of the slot.
Tom comes and puts Kate in the cage vacated by the boy. Sawyer throws her his fish biscuit.
Episode 3x2, The Glass Ballerina
Sawyer and Kate are put to work by the Others. Kate uses a pickax to loosen rocks and Sawyer picks them up. They are told not to talk or touch.Sawyer watches Juliet take a long drink of water from a canteen and when Juliet tosses it to him, he dumps the water out.
He sees that Kate is exhausted and walks right up to her and kisses her. He fights some of the Others, but stops when Juliet pulls a gun on Kate.
Back in their cages, Kate asks Sawyer why he did it and he says it's because she looked cute with her pickax.
Episode 3x4, Every Man For Himself
Sawyer has plans for escape, but they don't work and Ben knocks him out. He wakes in a room shackled to a table. They put him out with a huge needle. When he comes to again, Ben comes in with a bunny in a cage and shakes it until it flops to the bottom of the cage. He tells Sawyer that the bunny has a pace maker and died because it got too excited. Sawyer also has a pace maker in him now and if his heart rate goes above 140, his heart will explode. He tells Sawyer that if he says anything about it to Kate, they'll put one in her as well.After Colleen dies, Pickett pulls Sawyer out of his cage and beats him until Kate admits that she loves him.
Episode 3x6, I Do
Pickett opens the cage and tells Kate that it's time to work, but she won't go without Sawyer, so Pickett takes Sawyer too. While they are working, there is a compound breech, and Alex comes out with a sling shot. She tells Pickett that she wants to talk to Ben, but is grabbed from behind and carried off. As they are taking her away she yells to Kate not to listen to them because they will kill her boyfriend the same way they killed Alex's.Juliet takes Kate in to see Jack and Kate begs him to do the surgery so that Pickett won't kill Sawyer. When she's returned to the cage, she tells Sawyer that she saw Jack. They get into an argument, because Kate told Jack to do the surgery. Kate climbs out of her cage and in with Sawyer. They fight, then make love.
Kate and Sawyer lie in Sawyer's cage, barely covered.
Pickett has Sawyer out of his cage, on his knees, with the gun at his head. He is just about to shoot when he gets the message from Tom.
Kate talks to Jack over the walkie-talkie. He tells her to run, but she wants to know where he is.
Episode 3x7, Not in Portland
Kate and Sawyer escape from the cages, but are pursued by Pickett, Jason, and another man. Alex helps them to hide from the men, but in exchange she wants them to help her free Karl, the boy who had been in the other cage. They find Karl, and Alex takes them to a boat.Pickett finds them, and moves to shoot Sawyer and Kate runs to him. Before Pickett can shoot, Juliet shoots Pickett.
Kate has an emotional talk with Jack over the walkie-talkies while Sawyer watches.
Episode 3x9, Stranger in a Strange Land
Kate and Sawyer row toward the main island, but Kate wants to go back and get Jack. Sawyer points out that Jack asked them not to go back. Karl says that Ben will kill them if they go back.As they near the shoreline, Kate asks what Sawyer is doing. Sawyer plans to go ashore and make camp, but Kate wants to follow the shoreline around to their main camp and get a rescue party together. Sawyer says he can't steer in the dark and they are making camp there.
Kate and Sawyer fight and Karl tells them they shouldn't fight, they should be happy to be alive.
In the morning, Kate wakes up and realizes Karl is gone. She wakes Sawyer and they look for him, finding him sobbing in the jungle. Kate wants to talk to him, but Sawyer won't let her. He tells Karl that he should go after Alex.
When Sawyer comes back he says he let Karl go. Kate is mad because Karl could have led them to where the Others live, but Sawyer says Karl was a target.
Sawyer accuses Kate of feeling guilty that they hooked up, but Kate denies it. Kate says that Sawyer is bossing her around.
Episode 3x10, Tricia Tanaka is Dead
As Kate and Sawyer head back to the main camp, Sawyer steps on a dart. Kate pulls it out. Kate says they could start over with a clean slate if Sawyer would just apologize, but he won't.When they reach camp, everyone seems really happy to see them. Sawyer notices his stuff is gone and goes to find Hurley. When he finds Hurley, he sees that Hurley has found a Dharma bus. In exchange for beer, Sawyer helps Hurley and Jin right the vehicle.
Sawyer teaches Jin some English while they drink. Sawyer and Jin push Hurley and Charlie in the van down a steep hill at Hurley's insistence. When Hurley is able to get the bus started, they all celebrate. When they return to the main beach, Sawyer is noticeably alone, while Jin goes to Sun and Charlie goes to Claire.
Episode 3x11, Enter 77
Sawyer comes up with a plan to get his stash back. He tells a group of people who are putting together a ping pong table found in the jungle that he will play against whomever they choose. If he wins, he wants his stash back.Sun suggests that if he loses he is not allowed to use nicknames for a week. Sawyer agrees. Hurley is who gets chosen and Sawyer plays against him. Sawyer loses.
Also, Sawyer is worried about Kate. He asks Hurley about her and looks around for her, but doesn't find her.
