Episode 3x1, A Tale of Two Cities
Jack wakes to find himself in a dingy room. He tries to go out the open door, but the room is split in half by a glass wall. Juliet comes in on the other side of the glass and introduces herself. She offers Jack food, but he refuses it. She says he can trust her. He finally allows her to bring him food, but when she opens the door, he rushes her and gets out of the door. In the hallway, he gets her in a choke hold and tells her to open another door. She says she can't or they will die. Ben comes in and says that she is telling the truth.Jack lets her go and opens the door himself. Ben and Juliet run away, but Ben reaches the other door first and closes it behind himself, trapping Juliet inside. Water pours in through the door Jack opened. He and Juliet are able to close it together. She knocks him out and he wakes back in his original room.
Juliet looks at a large file that she says is Jack's life. He asks if Sarah is happy and Juliet says that she is very happy.
Episode 3x2, The Glass Ballerina
Juliet brings Jack soup, but he doesn't eat it.Later, Ben comes in and introduces himself as Benjamin Linus. He proves to Jack that they have access to the outside world because of what he knows. He shows Jack a bit of the world series.
Episode 3x4, Every Man For Himself
Juliet takes Jack out of his room to help her save Colleen. They can't save her and Juliet tells Jack that she's not used to death. She's a fertility doctor. Jack asks her about the X-rays he'd seen in the other room of a 40 year old man with a tumor on his vertebra. He wants to know who he was brought here to save.Episode 3x5, The Cost of Living
Ben gives Jack a white shirt and asks him to take a walk with him. Jack tells Ben he will die very soon because of the tumor on his spine.Jack goes with Ben to Colleen's funeral. Later, Juliet comes into his room with a cheeseburger, but Ben interrupts and asks to speak to Jack alone. He tells Jack how they had planned to wear him down and make him want to help Ben. Ben tells Jack that he believes in God because two days after he found out he had a fatal spinal tumor, a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky.
Later, Juliet brings Jack a movie to watch while she tells him that he should help Ben. On the movie is a video of her with big cards that say that Ben is a liar and she wants Jack to let Ben die.
Episode 3x6, I Do
Jack looks at Ben's X-rays. He asks Juliet some questions about what she'd written in Ben's file. Jack tells Ben that he needed the surgery yesterday. Ben says he'll give Jack whatever he needs, but Jack says he will not do the surgery.Juliet brings Kate in and she begs Jack to do the surgery, or Sawyer will die.
A message comes over Jack's intercom that says, "Try the door." He tries the door and is able to open it. He goes to the room with the TV screens and finds a closet full of guns. After taking one, he notices Kate and Sawyer on one of the screens.
Ben walks up behind Jack and tells him that he's surprised Kate picked Sawyer. Jack tells Ben that he'll do the surgery the following day.
While Jack does the surgery, Tom, Pickett, and Jason look on. Pickett and Jason leave and Pickett says that Jack wasn't even on Jacob's list.
In the operating room, Jack purposely makes a small cut in Ben's kidney sack. He tells Tom that Ben has about an hour to live if Jack doesn't sew it up. He wants to talk to Kate on the walkie-talkie.
Pickett has Sawyer out of his cage, on his knees, with the gun at his head. He is just about to shoot when he gets the message from Tom.
Kate talks to Jack over the walkie-talkie. He tells her to run, but she wants to know where he is.
Episode 3x7, Not in Portland
Jack refuses to operate on Ben and tells Tom that Juliet had told him to kill Ben.Ben wakes up and wants to talk to Juliet and, after they talk, Juliet asks Jack to finish the operation. While Jack works on Ben, he has an emotional talk with Kate over the walkie-talkie about a story Jack had told Kate when they first met. Jack believes that Kate and Sawyer are safe.
He finishes with Ben and asks Juliet what Ben had said to make her want him to live. She tells him that Ben said she could go home.
Episode 3x9, Stranger in a Strange Land
Jack is moved from his room in the Hydra to the cage that Sawyer used to be in, and Juliet is moved into the room in the Hydra.Later, Tom brings a sandwich and answers some of Jack's questions, saying Juliet is in trouble and the woman with her was the sheriff, though not literally.
When Juliet comes to see him, Jack says that he thought she was locked up, but she says that they let her out to examine Ben. She shows Jack a picture of Ben's infected stitches. Jack says he won't help Ben anymore.
The sheriff, Isabel, introduces herself to Jack and takes him to an interrogation room where she asks if Juliet wanted him to kill Ben. He lies, saying no, but Isabel wants to know why he's lying.
The next morning, Jack wakes up in the cage to see people outside the cage watching him. Cindy comes over and he recognizes her from the flight. He wants to know what she is doing with them and she says that they are watching him.
Later, Alex breaks the camera that is pointed at Jack's cage and asks him why, after everything Ben has done to him, Jack saved Ben's life. Jack tells her it's because he said he would. He wants to know if Isabel will listen to Ben, and Alex says yes, so Jack asks her to get him out of the cage. He goes to Ben and says that he will help him get better if Ben stops Juliet's execution. Ben agrees, but Jack later finds out that Juliet will be marked. The next time he sees Juliet he looks at the mark on her back and applies aloe to it.
Everyone, including Jack, leaves the small island because Jack's people know where it is.
