Charlie wants to know how Desmond knew Claire was out there, but Desmond won't tell him. Hurley says it's because Desmond can see the future.

They get Desmond drunk and he finally tells Charlie that it wasn't Claire he was saving, it was Charlie, but no matter what he does, Charlie is going to die.

Episode 3x12, Par Avion

Charlie takes care of Aaron and prepares a breakfast for Claire. When she wakes she wonders why he had been depressed all week and now he seems happy. He says he wants to seize the day.

As they start their picnic, Desmond comes over to tell Charlie that he should go hunting with Desmond. Charlie wants to have the picnic with Claire, but she runs away, having had some idea.

Claire wants Charlie to help her catch a bird to send a message with. Charlie acts disinterested and Claire goes to Jin and Sun for help.

Charlie argues with Desmond. Claire demands to know the truth from Charlie and when he won't tell her, she says she doesn't want him around her baby anymore.

Later, Claire forgives him after Desmond tells her about seeing the flashes of Charlie dying.

Desmond sees a flash and Charlie later finds out that Desmond saw Claire and Aaron getting onto a rescue helicopter, but it will only happen if Charlie goes into a flooded Dharma station and flips a switch before drowning.

Charlie starts a list of the top five events of his life.

When he hears Sayid talking about an underwater hatch that someone needs to swim to, he volunteers to go, but Jack says no. Later, Jack asks if Charlie is still up for it and Desmond agrees to go with him.

Desmond and Charlie use Karl's boat and find the station. Desmond offers to go instead, but Charlie knocks him out and dives in.
