Lost never seems to be short on plot twists that can shock even the most avid fan. The shocking reveals began early in the first season. Some of these shocks were things that some of us guessed before they actually happened, but even the thought of them happening was shocking, so I've listed them here.
20. Kate is a Fugitive

Jack finds out that Kate is a fugitive and was on the plane with a Marshal who was escorting her to the States.
19. Sawyer the Con Man
ABC/Mario Perez
Sawyer took on the name Sawyer and became a con man because his mother was conned and because of it his father shot her and then himself. Sawyer kept the letter he wrote to Mr. Sawyer in 1976.
18. Locke's Dad Steals His Kidney
ABC/Mario Perez
Locke finally meets his biological father, who befriends him only because he needs a kidney transplant. After the transplant he wants nothing to do with Locke.
17. The Black Rock
ABC/Mario Perez
The Black Rock is referenced on Rousseau's maps and in Claire's diary. It turns out The Black Rock is an old slave ship, stranded way inland on the island.
16. Diane Screams, Tom Dies
ABC/Mario Perez
When Kate sneaks into the hospital to see her mother, who is suffering with cancer, her mother screams for help and Kate is forced to flee. Her childhood friend and the man she loves, Tom, won't get out of the car and Kate speeds away from the police. Tom is killed.
15. Walt is Special

Locke sees that Walt is special and teaches him how to hit a mark when throwing a knife. Walt picks it up really quickly, but Michael doesn't want Walt hanging out with Locke.
14. Boone Dies, Aaron is Born
ABC/Mario Perez
While Jack is busy trying to save Boone, Kate has to deliver Claire's baby in the jungle.
13. Distress Signal
ABC/Mario Perez
A group of the plane crash survivors have the plane's transceiver and pick up a French distress call that Sayid says is coming from the island. Shannon translates and they realize the distress call has been playing on a loop for 16 years.
12. Sawyer Knows Christian
ABC/Mario Perez
Shortly before boarding Flight 815, Sawyer meets Jack's father, Christian Shephard, in an Australian bar. Sawyer is there because he couldn't kill the man he believed to be responsible for his parents' murder suicide. Christian is there feeling bad that Jack didn't know he felt gratitude and pride for Jack's standing up to him.
11. Sun Speaks English
ABC/Mario Perez
Sun reveals to Michael that she speaks English and that Jin doesn't know. She wants to explain to Michael that Jin attacked him over a misunderstanding because Michael was wearing a watch that belonged to her father. We find out in flashbacks that Sun had been learning English so that she could leave Jin and go to America, but changed her mind at the airport and got on Flight 815 with Jin.
