Lost never seems to be short on plot twists that can shock even the most avid fan. The shocking reveals began early in the first season. Some of these shocks were things that some of us guessed before they actually happened, but even the thought of them happening was shocking, so I've listed them here.
10. Ethan Kills Scott

After Claire returns to the beach, Ethan tells Charlie to return her to him. He will kill one person per day until she is returned and Charlie will be the last to die. The next day, despite guards being posted around the camp, the survivors find Scott had been murdered.
9. Ethan Kills Charlie
ABC/Mario Perez
Jack and Kate track Ethan after he kidnaps Charlie and Claire. When Jack and Kate get separated, Ethan beats up Jack and tells him that if they continue to follow, Ethan will kill Charlie or Claire. Jack and Kate continue to follow and they find Charlie hanging from a tree. They get him down and try to revive him. Kate tells Jack to stop, but Jack gets angry and whacks Charlie's chest, and Charlie begins to breathe.
8. Charlie Kills Ethan

Charlie is told to stay behind while Jack, Sayid, Locke, Kate, and Sawyer use Claire for bait to get Ethan. Charlie is there too and shoots Ethan six times, killing him. Jack is upset because he wanted to get information from Ethan, but Charlie didn't want to take the chance that he'd hurt Claire again.
7. The French Woman

Danielle Rousseau has been living on the island for 16 years. She captures Sayid and tortures him, but eventually lets him go when she realizes he's not one of the Others. She tells Sayid there are other people on the island.
6. A Monster in the Jungle
ABC/Mario Perez
There is some kind of monster in the jungle that makes loud clanking noises and knocks down trees. It kills the pilot of Flight 815 and leaves his body high up in a tree.
5. Light in the Hatch
ABC/Mario Perez
After Boone is critically injured and Locke still can't get the hatch open, he bangs on the door, crying, "I've done everything you wanted me to do. So why did you do this? Why?" A light suddenly shines through the hatch window.
4. Arzt Explodes
ABC/Mario Perez
While talking about the delicacy of dynamite and how careful you need to be when handling it, Arzt transfers dynamite from a crate and BOOM, the dynamite explodes and Arzt is gone.
3. Walt Kidnapped
ABC/Mario Perez
On the raft, they see a boat and shoot the flare. It looks like a rather rickety boat with four people on board. A scruffy looking bearded man asks what they are doing so far out and Michael explains. The man thinks it's quite a story and says, "Only, the thing is, we're going to have to take your boy." They steal Walt off the raft and then blow up the raft.
2. Polar Bear
The survivors are stranded on a tropical island, with a polar bear! Sawyer shoots the bear and the group wonders how a polar bear got on the island.
Several days later, Walt is trapped by a polar bear and Michael and Locke work to free him.
Episode 1x14, Special
1. Locke was in a Wheelchair!

John Locke, who has been running around the island, had been in a wheelchair before the crash. He had been unable to use his legs at all and the big wheelchair reveal came at the end of the episode. It was at that moment that I knew this was going to be one of my favorite shows of all time.
