  • Bruce Lee: Sawyer tells Locke that Kate talked to Miles. "She talked to that guy, Bruce Lee from the freighter." (Ep: 4x4, Eggtown)
    • Bruce Lee was an American born martial artist who was known for his philosophies, instruction, and acting.

  • Donger: Miles tries to help Claire with Aaron, and Sawyer says, "Back off, Donger." (Ep: 4x10, Something Nice Back Home)
    • This is a reference to "The Donger", the nickname of the foreign exchange student, Long Duk Dong, in the movie Sixteen Candles.

  • Genghis: As they travel through the jungle, Sawyer hears Miles talking and says, "Who you talking to up there, Genghis?" (Ep: 4x12, There's No Place Like Home Part 1)
    • This is a reference to Genghis Khan, the legendary Mongolian warrior and conqueror.

  • Enis:
    • Miles gets in the Dharma bus with Sawyer and Sawyer says, "Good evening, Enis." (Ep: 5x8, LaFleur)
    • Miles askes "LaFleur" a question and Sawyer says, "There ain't no more 'LaFleur', Enis." (Ep: 5x16, The Incident)

    • Bonsai: Miles wants to get on the submarine and Sawyer says, "Hold your horses, Bonsai, no one's getting on the sub." (Ep: 5x8, LaFleur)
      • Bonsai trees are miniature trees kept in containers.

    • Mr. I-Speak-To-Dead-People: Sawyer calls Miles this when he's talking Juliet out of leaving the island. (Ep: 5x8, LaFleur)
