Bernard

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 1
Rose guns the car engine and her wheels spin in the snow. Bernard taps on the window and tells her not to gun it.

"With all due respect," she says, "I have been driving in snow my whole life."

"You have to rock it out," Bernard says, but Rose continues to gun the engine. She says she's going to call AAA, but he says he can do it and pushes on the car. The car gets out of the snow and Bernard falls on his face.

Rose gets out and asks if he's okay. She thanks him for helping her and says her name is Rose. He goes to his car and she gets back in hers. Before he closes the door she asks if she can buy him a cup of coffee.

Proposal

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 2
Rose and Bernard sit at a restaurant. Rose admires the view, but Bernard is distracted, looking over her shoulder. She asks what he's doing.

Violinists come over and begin to play. Bernard gets on one knee. "I've been a bachelor for 56 years, and then I met you. And we just fell into a rhythm, like we've known each other forever. I know it's crazy," Bernard says, "we just met five months ago." He pulls out a ring, "Rose, I love you. Will you marry me?" "Bernard, I'm dying," she says.

Bernard looks terrified and she says, "I'm sick and I'm dying."

Bernard excuses the violinists and sits down, staring at Rose.

"I've been in remission for the last couple of years. But now it's back, and this time it's not going away. My doctor says I have about a year, maybe a little longer."

Bernard stares at her and shakes his head, then says, "You haven't answered my question."

"Are you sure?" she asks and he says he's sure. "Yes," she says.

The Outback

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 3
Rose and Bernard travel through the deserted Outback. Rose says they're lost, but Bernard says he knows exactly where they are.

Rose says she wanted to be on a beach for their honeymoon. They come to a little village and Rose says, "Thank goodness, civilization. Bernard, let's get directions."

"I brought you out here because I want you to see this man. His name is Isaac Uluru. He's helped hundreds of people." He hands her a brochure. Bernard says, "I know how it looks, but believe me, he is completely legit."

"Bernard, you brought me to faith healer?" She throws the brochure down and gets out.

"He's the real deal, Rose," Bernard says, and Rose looks annoyed.

Bernard says that once he started telling people of Rose's situation, he got three separate recommendations for this healer.

"That's why you wanted to bring me to Australia?" Rose says. "So you could bring me to some kook?"

"Rose, I made a $10,000 donation just to get you in to see him."

"I didn't ask for this," Rose yells. "Bernard, I have made my peace with what's happening to me."

"Well I haven't," Bernard says. "I have to try. Will you try, Rose? For me?"

Isaac

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 4
A woman leads Rose into a shed and says that Isaac will be right with her." There are several sets of crutches hanging from the ceiling and a wall covered with pictures and thank you cards addressed to Isaac.

"You must be Rose," a man says as he walks in.

Rose asks how it works if he sits and chants or prays or what.

Isaac says, "There are certain places with great energy, spots on the earth like the one we're above now. Perhaps this energy is geological, magnetic. Or perhaps it's something else. And, when possible, I harness this energy and give it to others."

He puts his hands in front of her face and closes his eyes. Suddenly he opens them, looks at her and says, "I'm sorry. I can't do anything for you, Rose."

She gets up and looks out the window. She sees Bernard talking to a little girl on crutches.

Isaac says, "It's not that you can't be healed, Rose. Like I said, there's different energies. This is not the right place for you."

"Where is?"

"I don't know," Isaac says. "I'll return your husband's donation."

"Don't," she says. "I'm going to tell him you fixed me."

Sad Rose

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 5
Bernard and Rose sit in the airport. Bernard gets up and as he leaves, Rose looks sad that she had lied to him.

Locke

Episode 2x19, S.O.S. - Flashback Scene 6
In the airport alone, she opens her bag and a bottle of pills falls out and rolls away. Locke, rolling by in his wheelchair, picks it up and hands it to her.
