In flashbacks, Ana-Lucia's mother, her police captain, knows that she shot Jason, the man who shot Ana-Lucia and killed her unborn child. Ana-Lucia quits the force and begins working in airport security. She meets Christian Shepard, who says he needs a body guard and asks her to go with him to Sydney.
She agrees, and after being there for four days, he asks her to take him to a house, where he has an argument with an Australian woman because he wants to see his daughter. He wants to continue drinking and running around to bars, but Ana-Lucia no longer wants to go with him and leaves him at the bar.
Ana-Lucia is in line at the Sydney airport and sees Jack talking about getting his dad home so he can bury him. Ana-Lucia calls her mother and says she made a mistake and she wants to come home.
