In flashbacks, Locke plans to propose to Helen, but she finds his father's name in the obituaries and they go to his funeral. Locke does a home inspection for the company he owns, then sees a silver car.
Locke's father says that the faked his own death because some men are trying to kill him because he conned them out of money. He wants Locke to retrieve the money. Locke gets the money and returns home to find two thugs in his kitchen. They dump out Locke's bag, but the money is not inside.
Locke takes the money to his father. Helen catches him and is upset that he lied to her. He asks her to marry him and she shakes her head and leaves.
